Ronda

Ronda

Ancient city walls and stone architecture characterize this picturesque, enchanting city  in the Malaga province. Ronda is one of the oldest cities in Spain, with rock paintings dating back to the Neolithic Age. Small and charming, Ronda has a population of 35,000 and is located 100km (62 miles) to the west of Malaga, just a one-hour drive slightly northwest of Marbella. Settlers have included the Celts, Phoenicians, and the Romans, during which time Ronda became recognized as a city under the rule of Julius Caesar. Arab public baths, Pileta's cave, and various palaces and churches are among the numerous monuments that can be found here due to its long, abundant history. One of its most famous attractions is the bullring, which is one of the oldest in Spain. The magical beauty of this city has attracted thinkers such as Rainer María Rilke, Orson Welles, and Ernest Hemingway, who once stated that "the entire town as far as you can see in any direction is a romantic background."
