Museo Picasso (Picasso Museum)
Picasso was born in Málaga on October 25th, 1881, and he had always dreamed that a place like Museo Picasso might exist in his hometown, keeping his collection alive for years to come. Christine and Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, his daughter-in-law and grandson, collaborated with regional and state governments to organize and fund the project, and in 2003, King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofía of Spain opened the museum. Museo Picasso's collection includes 233 works of art that demonstrate the range of the artist's talent from his younger years to paintings from the 1970's, including not only Cubism but also early sketches and ceramics. The museum has a library, auditorium, and an education department that provide excellent resources for scholars and visitors alike who want to delve further into reflection over the artist's works.
