Turkey Trip Itineraries

Top 10 Romantic Things to Do

Destination(s): Bursa

Turkey is a romantic country just by the nature of its local history and culture, that is really unique and has been passed on through hundreds of generations. It is a vibrant destination with lots of different aspects, so we have made a selection of the most romantic activities in Turkey, which all involve a type of relaxation and getting away, be it in wild natural places or through the hidden sights of amazing Istanbul. Bebek Park is a really special destination, as it is not just a regular park where you get to enjoy the greenery, but it is also a representative place for the Turkish culture, as you can see the fishermen doing their daily jobs and enjoy the breeze from the sea. Equally special are the horse backed carriage rides on the Istanbul islands, a unique place where there are no cars which provides the perfect opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the quiet and the fresh air. read more about Top 10 Romantic Things to Do

Horse backed carriage rides

Horse backed carriage rides

  • Princes' Islands
  • Istanbul

Okay it smells a little bit; but the horse-backed carriage rides are a lot fun when on the islands. First of all it is much faster to get to where you want to get to -remember you cannot drive cars on islands... Second, it is also quite romantic. The sound of horse feed on the ground as they tick is quite peaceful, it is as if you are meditating. Prices vary, but expect pay at least 6 TRY. Apart from using horse-backed carriages as a form of transportation, it is also possible to do a long or a short guided sightseeing tour around the islands with one. The short tour costs around 40TRY and the long one 50TRY. Nonetheless, locals usually tend to find these prices pumped up for the season, and prefer to walk rather than take the fayton. There has long been a debate over whether fayton drivers should change how much the charge for a ride and look after the horses and the cars better. As of now, the drivers try to take advantage of the short season by charging more.

Bebek Park is no Central Park... It is not big at all. But with its lush green trees, wooden benches and playgrounds for kids it is an invincible hub for locals of Bebek -especially those with kids and dogs :) On any sunny Sunday you are likely to find both celebrities and local residents, taking a breath here at the Bebek Park. Kids will be runnung up and around, dogs will be snoozing around, cats will be hiding away from them all... There are nice tea gardens (cafes) inside and around the park where you can relax and watch it all -sipping into tradional Turkish tea. Finally, Bebek Park has one thing that most other parks in the world does not; and that is the Sea, the port and the fishermen...

Rent a bike

Rent a bike

  • Princes' Islands
  • Istanbul

Renting a bike on the islands is not only a fit option, but also a very practical mode of travel. As no cars are allowed on islands, you only have a few options of transportation on the islands: horse carriages, walking or biking. Rents on bikes are usually charged per hour. There are one or two bike renting services on each island, so you do not have a lot of bargaining power. It is normal to pay 5 to 10 TRY for an hour. There might also be full or half deals. Carry an id with you if you plan on renting a bike. You do usually have to leave an identity card behind for the duration of your rent.
