Splendid Venice in Venice, Italy

Floating gondolas, the chime of ancient church bells, and romantic piazzas make Venice such a treasured Italian destination. Splendid Venice, part of Preferred Hotels & Resorts and a member of the Preferred Hotel Group, was built during the 16th century. Located between St. Mark's Square and the landmark Rialto Bridge, this historic hideaway features 165 guestrooms. The hotel has been completely refurbished, maintaining a traditional Venetian presence coupled with contemporary appointments. Walls are cloaked in pearl gray with hand-painted wisteria accents. Lush velvets and cool silk textiles, which cover headboards and furnishings, add a most luxurious touch. The hotel's private docks jut out into the canals, allowing guests to disembark from gondolas and water taxis with ease.

As if stepping into the pages of a Hemingway novel, a stay at Splendid Venice feels like a work of art. The hotel's signature restaurant Le Maschere features a sophisticated menu of traditional Venetian dishes and million-dollar views of the canal. Ambient lighting filters from beneath red silk chandeliers at The Bar, which features sexy black lacquered furnishings and bolts of rich fabric. Indulge in red wine from neighboring Tuscany or a martini served straight up at this hip location. Sheltered by a glass roof, the hotel's courtyard is perfect year-round enjoyment. Step beyond the hotel doors and discover all that Venice embodies: the gondola museum where the same family has hand-crafted vessels for centuries, the gelaterias featuring homemade gelato, and the wine shops stocked with shelves of Italy's finest vintages.

The hotel is well situated for the main tourist attractions. The staff friendly and helpful, our room over looked the canal. My wife is allergic to feathers when she booked the hotel she mentioned this on the booking form, unfortunately this message did not get through. We spoke to the concierge, the first time the message to housekeeping saw only the sheets changed, the second time the feather duvet was changed for a blanket. Our breakfast included in the room price was excellent. There is mobile phone in the room for you to use as a guide and information which could be useful but we relied on maps and travel knowledge prior to our visit. It’s well worth visiting the roof terrace (the staff will show you which lift to use) for a view of Venice and some sun bathing a nice touch is the complimentary water and coffee. A couple of things that has let the hotel down, as we came out of the lift on our floor a tray we saw in the morning was still there in the late afternoon, just a few of the staff at breakfasts did not look as if they wanted to be there. I didn’t agree with previous comments about the staff most were pleasant, efficient and made you feel welcome, there English was perfect.

Amazing 4 nights. This hotel is central to everything. Rooms are beautiful, clean, and well stocked with toiletries. Staff are friendly and always on hand to help. Ringing restaurants to make a reservation also showing us personally where it was. All staff were amazing from cleaning to management

We took a waterbus (Alilaguna) at the airport, it was a +- 35 minutes trip and we got off at the Rialto stop. From there it's only a 5 minute walk to the hotel. Arrived at the hotel at 11am and our room was already ready for us to check in- super quick check in and lovely lady at the reception! Our room was amazing. It was clean, the bed was comfortable and the marble bathroom was stunning. There is a turn down service every afternoon, loved the free chocolates they left us every night! You also get two complimentary bottles of water every day, and there's free coffee & tea in your room. Enough storage space and clothing hangers. WiFi is good (not the best). The location is AMAZING. Everything's in walking distance, lots of restaurants and cafes in the neighborhood, both Rialto and St Mark's square are only 4-5 minutes away. In short, I would definitely recommend this hotel, you won't regret it!

Excellent location between St Marco and Rialto. Beautiful rooms. Stunning newly renovated suites. Timber flooring with Italian styling. Friendly staff all combined with luxury furnitures in reception and room, it was unforgettable night.

We loved this hotel. We were here for 2 nights at the end of March. It’s very centrally located and convenient to all the major sites in Venice (about equidistant from Rialto to San Marco). Being in a bustling, central location, it was very much in the center of the action during the day, but nice and quiet at night. We had a canal view room, which I recommend highly. We opened the windows during the afternoon/evening and watched and listened to the gondolas go by. The room was nicely appointed with an espresso machine, bottles of water, and a mini bar. There were other nice touches like an umbrella in the closet, and slippers for walking around the room. Breakfast was simple but very nice as well with fresh fruit, bacon and eggs, and a variety of cereals and pastries
