Splendid Venice in Venice, Italy

Floating gondolas, the chime of ancient church bells, and romantic piazzas make Venice such a treasured Italian destination. Splendid Venice, part of Preferred Hotels & Resorts and a member of the Preferred Hotel Group, was built during the 16th century. Located between St. Mark's Square and the landmark Rialto Bridge, this historic hideaway features 165 guestrooms. The hotel has been completely refurbished, maintaining a traditional Venetian presence coupled with contemporary appointments. Walls are cloaked in pearl gray with hand-painted wisteria accents. Lush velvets and cool silk textiles, which cover headboards and furnishings, add a most luxurious touch. The hotel's private docks jut out into the canals, allowing guests to disembark from gondolas and water taxis with ease.

As if stepping into the pages of a Hemingway novel, a stay at Splendid Venice feels like a work of art. The hotel's signature restaurant Le Maschere features a sophisticated menu of traditional Venetian dishes and million-dollar views of the canal. Ambient lighting filters from beneath red silk chandeliers at The Bar, which features sexy black lacquered furnishings and bolts of rich fabric. Indulge in red wine from neighboring Tuscany or a martini served straight up at this hip location. Sheltered by a glass roof, the hotel's courtyard is perfect year-round enjoyment. Step beyond the hotel doors and discover all that Venice embodies: the gondola museum where the same family has hand-crafted vessels for centuries, the gelaterias featuring homemade gelato, and the wine shops stocked with shelves of Italy's finest vintages.

My son & daughter-in-law researched many hotels and happened upon this gem of a hotel in the heart of San Marco. It had been recently refurbished and was absolutely beautiful! Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We did have to use GPS to find it because there are so many slender walking areas within San Marco. I would recommend if you do not have GPS capabilities, to map it out prior to your trip. We went in the off season which was awesome! Not nearly as congested as I can imagine in the prime tourist season. We had two rooms with windows facing one of the small channels. One with two twins (pictured) and one queen for my son & DIL. Bed and bedding very comfortable. Rooms were nice size and well appointed. The bathroom completely updated with tub and shower, hairdryer and towel warmer. Toilet plus separate bidet. Turndown service provided nightly. There is a bar and restaurant (The Le Maschere) which we visited both. I will Trip the restaurant separately. This hotel was a little more spendy but we all felt it was definitely worth the price for amenities to location to friendly staff and the comfort of the rooms. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel!

The hotel is really beautifully located right in the heart of the city near Piazza San Marco and at the same time hidden away, with its own access to the canal and the other door straight onto the narrow Venice streets. Very beautiful and pleasant rooms, nice breakfast and helpful staff.

Hotel was gorgeous, well situated. Beware of “complimentary private tour of Murano Glass Factory” our guide put so much pressure on us to purchase murano glass that the outing became unpleasurable. We spent a good deal of money to be in a high class hotel and then to feel like they (hotel) colluded with a con artist was very annoying to say the least!

Traveled to Venice with a friend and my daughter for a 3 day short break. Hotel was easy to find from the boat. On arrival was told we had been given an upgrade on the room, we were given a junior suite. The room was lovely, with a small sitting room, with a single bed/chaise and a double bed in a separate room. There was plenty of space for the 3 of us. room was beautifully furnished and very clean, with a view onto one of the canals. Breakfast was part of the deal and the choice of food was great, from continental to cereals, eggs and bacon fresh fruit and drinks. The staff were very friendly and helpful. there is a roof terrace but being February was too cold to use but we did have a look at it and was impressed by the size and views. Would highly recommend a stay here and would definitely go back.

Stayed two night for carnival and will definitely return on our next trip to Venice. Very helpful and polite staff. Very clean hotel, lovely decor and perfect location. Was offered an upgrade and terms were made clear and this allowed us to hsve a wonderful terrace and hsve the room 2 hours early for 30euros per night. Would highly recommend the rooms with terraces! Lovely bathroom, firm beds, breakfast was fine. Shame the prices of the bar downstairs are extreme as the lounge is lovely. Have already recommended to friends and family. Top rating for us. Thank you Star hotel Venice!
