We're off to Nuevo Cancun manana! The offering didn't include 1 BR suite this time (until 5 days AFTER we purchased our Buy Now!). We're hoping for upgrade (loved the washer/dryer and extra living space/bath).
We're going to dodge today's wintry mix in the midwest and get down to Atlanta, ready to jet off to Cancun in the morning. All 4 a la cartes are open and I look forward to the swings at the tiki bar on the beach. And those Snickers...and the breakfast bubbly!

Thanks all--it's getting close. I am freaking out but I am determined to move on--I was thinking of thinking "Life is too short.........travel now!" is apropos! (where did I see that? haha)

oops--they had 3 a la cartes plus a Japanese/Sushi restaurant was being renovated/constructed but you could get sushi at one of the other restaurants. I forgot the ceviche--super YUM!! local seafood, of course. And 24 hour room service.

Second opinion today was slightly encouraging and will know more in the next few days. They haven't ruled out the possibility of amputation but we have more to do until that time. Another surgery and another 6 wks of IVs.
I am waiting for the LL hotels to confirm we can hold our reservation for later. I'm beginning to accept the travel disappointment. Guess I'm a teeny bit happy I didn't buy the LL Bangkok pkg for Lebua at State.

Thanks for the comments. It felt good to write about our loss. I have so many fond memories. My dad raised birds--most notably, quail--eggs to incubators to brooders to pen--then released them. I'm thinking of a place with birds--Maybe Bali, whose national symbol is the Garuda. Or maybe Victoria or Mkuze Falls--somewhere over the rainbow...Message Edited by kyshel on 05-10-2010 03:58 PM

Wow, kyshel, you've faced two pretty big losses in a short span of time. Trust you have fond memories of both parents, since you can keep them forever.

My sisters and brother got a kick out of the story--just the idea that I nearly didn't get my "mom" out of our home airport to take that journey all the way to Africa!! My mom loved to laugh and she would have appreciated the whole thing.

To this day I still can not figure out the TSA - when lighters were banned, I went through 2 airports (Philadelphia & Houston) with 3 lighters - 1 in my coat pocket and 2 in my carry on bag - they did not even get noticed let alone confiscated but they did make a big deal out of my bottle of water and took that - I have come to the conclusion that there is no rhyme or reason to what they decide to check. And the shoe thing.... many times I have gone through security and was allowed to keep my shoes on but everyone else in line had to take theirs off at other times, everyone else kept theirs on but I had to take mine off.........maybe they are aliens ;-)

Airline security stories could be a whole book.
