I remember watching a cartoon when I was a kid about dingoes and they were really scary, so when we went to Oz I was a little worried. As it turns out they were more like stray dogs than anything. Though I wouldn't want to meet a pack of them in a dark alley!
Good thing the dingoes got only interested on the apricots. But I guess they are tamer than most mountain animals. If I were there, I would have scared half to death in the night where dingoes and wallabies are roaming around, but I read they're gentle mountain animals.

turtlemama...you're still confident it was a dingo! Once never know what is lurking in remote locations at night and has a thing for dried apricots! Good story!
