We recently spent three nights in the castle hotel, Schloss Munichau, a listed Tyrolean castle originating in the 15th century. It is located in the enchanting village of Reith, on the doorstep of Kitzbuhel, Austria. Time honored elegance, precious antiques, and an eye for detail characterize the romantic ambiance, giving this historic hideaway its unique flair. The picturesque white castle offers some rooms & junior suites, a ‘Jaeger Salon’ with open fire and the wonderful castle bar. An absolute must is Thomas Dreher’s restaurant ‘Ritterstern’. He received 1 Michelin Star in 2009 and 3 Gault Millau toques in 2010. We had breakfast and dinner there all three nights we stayed there. The food is exquisitely prepared and very reasonable. The private dining room ‘Kaminstube’ can be used for small parties, weddings and meetings. Enveloped by a scenic recreational area of beautiful alpine lakes and soaring mountains, we felt Schloss Munichau was the epitome of graceful hospitality – the perfect gateway for a quick get-away of skiing, golfing, hiking or simply a leisurely stroll through the breathtaking landscape.
All the cable cars are working in the summer to transport you easily to the top of the mountains. We took the cable car up to the Kitzbuehler Horn and hiked down, enjoying the beautiful scenery and stopping at a wonderful Alpine hut to have a bite to eat and a stein of beer.
It would be wonderful if LL could add this property to it’s list in Austria. Here is the link: Hotel - Ritterstern - Packages - Celebrations - Weddings - Meetings - Incentives* : *Schloss Münichau
