It was quite exciting... at least for me!

My best travel experience may not be so exciting after all... my wife and I went to the home country of Bungee Jumping, New Zealand. Of course, I wanted to try out, but I'm not the yougest any more, and looking down that gorge nearly required the purchase of a new pair of pants. But hey, when does one get to go halfway around the world, and so chickening out was not an option. I got on the bridge, got the bungee tied to my legs, and crawled to the jumping ramp. I may have not jumped, but I have the feeling that the guy gave me a bit of a push... well, it was not as badd, since the whole thing is over before you can actually think about it. But still, thinking back about it, this was probably the most exciting thing I did on a trip so far!

Congratulations - that was one courages adventure, I am not sure I would have the guts to jump... somebody would have to push me.....

thanks for the comment. Thinking back, I think I would do it again (I was considering it back then, but I didn't want to overstretch the holiday purse...). To my excuse: It was (one of ) the lowest jumps available in NZ...

I admire you! I would make so many excuses why NOT to do it. Good for you and glad the cord held! Are you ready to sky dive next???!!

thank you for your admiration. Sometimes one just has to do things that seem crazy. I'm glad the cord held, and I sure hope the chute will open! I'm planning to jump one day, but right now, I have no time and no money for these things... but then again, it's just a plan, if I really stand at the door, I may chicken out after all!

mattokun....consider yourself "one up" on me! I've jumped out airplanes using parachutes (some required during my military days) and one "free falls to settle a lost wager!

However, the concept of depending on a Bungee Cord (THATS ONE CORD, NO MATTER HOW THICK) is the weakest link in my confidence to attempt such a feat....at least with parachutes, you've got "two chances" at surviving!

Good storyheres a tip.find other ways to increase your adrenaline flow!

thanks for your comment. I still think that jumping off a bridge with a chord is less bad... after all, even if the cord breaks, it does slow you down nevertheless, and below me was a deep river (into which I got dunked...), so the "touchdown" would have been less harmfull... or so I think. I definitely want to chute one day... and maybe drive a Nascar... and maybe fly in an AN-2 or Ju-52... and build my own kit aircraft... oh, there are so many ways for adrenaline! Any more suggestions are welcome!
