Out of MIA around 01:30 into LIM around 06:15 AM...over night-flights are the worst for me.no matter the class of serviceI never sleep well on airplanes.

an endless line of sleepy people clearing Immigration
a clutching mass of humanity at baggage claim
a fog of halitosis and body ordersbienvendidos!
stumble though Customs and drag my bags to LANs domestic check-in for the 09:30 LAN to Cusco
just made the flight...please stay above those mountains
hope my bags made the flight
me and the bags arrive Cusco at 11,500 feet
ground rep is waiting and we head to the Orient-Express Hotel Monasterio
Eduardo informs me there will be a bi-level Junior Suite available in an hour
would youlike a Mate de Coca por mal de altura under the tree on the patio?
oxigeno en su habitacion?
Eduardo knows what I need!
Sleep, oxygen and reservations at the best vegetarian restaurant in Cusco dinner at The Greens
http://www.cuscorestaurants.com/greens_eng.htm
Eduardo called the owner for a bottle of wine from his private cellarnot on the wine list
A bottle 02 Don Melcor Cabernet Sauvignonhas beendecanted and opening at our table
the Arugula ravioli with goat cheese, etc., etc..light and perfect!

I love Peru.....

I adore Cusco......

returning to the Monasterio under the watchful eye of Eduardo has been special

omegaet, do you typically photograph your food and drink when you travel? I'm not trying to be a s***t a** when I ask that question. Why the photos of food and drink?

btw, I'm starting to get a feel for the "fragmented" element of your blog.

    Keep at it.....

    t-2-f......"typically photograph food and drink?"

    Good question!

First of all, we only take shots of the food and/or drink before we consume it.

We're not wasting film only using up pixels and memory card space, of which we have a large quantity, since we shoot in digital.

Most shots are indexed with a few comments so we can recall who, what, where, and when the photos were taken we return home.....

btw, we do take many, many other photographs during our trips....not just food and drink!

That's the best answer I can offer.

I do the same, omegaet, but I also take pics of unusual toilets and fabulous bathtubs.
I really like that photo--the composition and colors, depth of field--gorgeous simplicity!

    Hi O,
I too often take shots of food. It is a practice I have picked up at cooking school. It helps to remember when reproducing a dish and certainly, it helps with presentation of a dish. It also helps remembering some of the food we had on a trip. It brings back memories.... among other shots.... and with digital photography the cost is zero, so why not.... "

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

lhbas we mentioned previously, using digitalwere only burning up pixels and memorynot like were dragging around rolls of 35mm film cassettes. Most of the time, whenever and wherever we travel, we have a pocket camera along..just in case.

When were in a restaurant and we encounter an exceptional meal presentation, we might take a few shots (high ISO/ASA settings mean no annoying flashes) and request the recipes from the kitchen. Most of the time, the chefs are more than pleased to share their secrets and it gives us an opportunity to try new dishes and share with our friends when we return home.

kyshel...thanks for taking the time to look at the photo.

I wish I could take more credit for this shot, but honestly, I was sleepy, the morning light was still creeping over the walls and into the courtyard of the Monasterio, and most all.....my head was "pounding" from the altitude! I love the color contrasts of the terra cotta cups against the leaves in the background.

It was a cool crisp morning, lots of fresh air.....just a beautiful day to be back in Peru!

omegaet, you are making changes in your blog. Why are you changing Subjects and moving postings. I participate in a couple of on-line blogs and this seems different. So far, you seem to have the most activity in these private VIP blogs and I am wondering what your are doing.

    Thanks.

Now instead of being an accidental tourist, you're the accidental photographer?? Give yourself a bit more credit, omegaet!

t-2-f.....the LL_Editor pointed out some organizational issues I wasexperiencing withmy original blog...basically, I was continuning to add new subjects and responding to subsequent comments and questions. The suggestion was given and accepted to do some reorganization. Hence, the changes.

-O-, this is an interesting and well composed photo, is photography a hobby? Have you taken photography courses or does this ability come naturally?
  10. omegaet's Avatar
jsattapr2....yes just a hobby! No formal training. I usually use the on-line tutorials offered by Nikon whenever I get a new one, just to figure out how they operate. I probably discard as many bad pix as I keep for acceptable pix.

Ability? Beleive me, it is 95% camera and 4% good luck and maybe 1% experience......that is what I love about shooting digital.....you can see the results immediately and decided if you want to keep if or toss it.

Thanks for reading the blog and looking at the photos.
