Three days of absolute 5 star treatment at Abano Grand Hotel

My husband and I arrived at the Abano Grand Hotel in Abano, Italy,the day after we ran the
Trieste marathon on May 8, 2011. What a fabulous place to arrive after exhausting ourselves
for many hours of running and aching feet. This reminds me of an era long ago, where
elegance was expected of such a high caliber hotel. The lobby is magnificent, beautiful marble floors, chandeliers, elegant furniture from a period of time when fortunes were spent on
ornate furniture and accents. Our Luxury Link package included breakfast, all dinners, 2 massages,
(need I say very much needed and appreciated), bikes at our disposal, an absolutely gorgeous
room with a balcony and to top it off, a bottle of Proseco and fresh fruit awaited us in our room.
First, I have to describe the food -- oh, the food! Dinner, by itself, was an event. There was a
huge buffet of the most delicious strawberries I have ever eaten, all the salad ingredients fresh
from the area, cheeses, desserts, I could go on forever; but, this was ONLY the salad. The
other 4 courses were chosen by you, from the freshest fish, pasta or meat, an appetizer, a
pasta entree and the Special dessert from the area, (or choose from the other 5 dessert selections offered on the salad bar, which were outstanding). Ok, I forgot to mention, there was also a pianist, which added to the elegance of the evening. All waiters wore tuxedos and were so friendly, we spent hours over our meal and enjoyed every minute of it. Onto the massages; an hour, each, of complete relaxation. There are many different choices of massages, as well as spa treatments.
Funny to see people walking around in either blue or white robes, depending on their treatment
choices. the pedestrian area was very close by and was lively in the evening. Very easy area to bike and stroll in as well as close to Padova, another charming city. This was the 11th Luxury Link pacakge I have purchased in about 3 years; and, I must say, the most inclusive of "extras" I
have purchased. This package was one of the best, I highly recommend it to anyone traveling
in this area of Italy.
