$1 Mstery Auctions
I cannot understand why anybody would bid up a 1 Dollar auction in the early stages. Bidding $50, $75, $80 or more does not make any sense when the auction closing date is still days away. I guess people do not realize that just $1 can take the bid away from them. Bidding high amounts only makes sense at the last 5 minutes of the auction and only if you really want it badly. This LL Mystery Auction is not like the auctions at E-bay where you can lock in a bid by bidding a high amount and you only pay the increment of $1 over the last bidder. Here, if you bid $999, just $1 could take the bid away by the last bidder at the closing bell.
Think about it, we all might catch a better deal!!!
I have seen mystery auctions bid up higher than what you could buy the package for at regular auctions.

It's the game to some people Not everyone chooses to bid the same way.

True, every one is free to bid what they like. I question if they understand the Game. The object is not to pay more, but to pay less. Isn't that what a good deal is all about!

I'm sure I'm not the only one who got a good deal by winning an auction by $1. I recall one of our members got one just this past week
People sometimes just quit the game. I saw an auction go 4 hours dollar by dollar, five minutes at a time, and the price was still less than the listing. Your logic doesn't apply to everyone and every auction."wherever you go, there you are"

That is precisely my point. Anytime you can get a $1 Mystery Auction below the listing price, it's a good deal. You can save even more, if everybodys bids remain at the $1 level, especially early on, instead of jacking the bids up by $50 in the first days.

What ever happened to the $1 Mystery Auction, where once a months a lucky winner was treated to just $1 for the package? As far as I know there was only one such Mystery Auction where the winner was treated to paying just $1 and it was won by shygirl, one of our Forum Contributors.

I think that was the end or pretty close-- maybe only a few after that. I think I recall a mention of one more on facebook. None were posted as winners after the first, as is very typical of LL contests.

Maybe so, but people will still bid they way the choose, even if not according to your thinking. This is like beating a dead horse. It's been rehashed at least once before and made no difference.
At this juncture, I give up.Last edited by kyshel; 11-30-2011 at 12:13 PM.
