I always have problems with the $1 mystery auctions - when you check the bidding history it says a high bid of $10 for example, so I go to bid and then it tells me the next bid should be $400 for example - so I never even bother to look at these anymore since the bid history does not equal what the actual current bid is

I don't get that when I am logged in, which is most of the time.

No, there actually was a problem there with the last two $1 Mystery auctions, where they stopped at an amount and then showed not further bids, no matter how often you added to the bids, or nothing but the same amount showed when the site was refreshed. I hope this LL glitch was corrected by now.

    Question

Somebody just increased the current mystery auction bid from $210 to $500 in one fell swoop, with 5 more days to go, when they only needed to bid $1 more. Go figure.

What this person does not realize is, that it takes only $1 on the next bid to take the bid away from them. I have seen the $1 Mystery Auctions bid up so high, that you could buy the package for less on Auction.

Who wants to lose by $1? Some people do; too bad. Maybe it's by $2 or $100. What's the difference if it's $5+$1 or $50+$1 or $500+$1--it's THEIR money and bid. If I want to bid $500 on the first day to get rid of cheapskates, I'll do just that for an auction I want to win. Some auctions are very popular and go for more than listed. If a LL customer is happy with their purchase, what's the big deal how they bid?

In poker....or cards......or auctions, some people don't want to show their hand......or their interest, in advance. YMMV.

I guess I just have that throw back mentality, in the sense that I feel as though I should be able to spend my own money how ever I choose. So, if it means bidding $500 or $1,000 at a clip, I assume it is OK, even in the $1 Auctions.

The latest Mystery auction on Tuscany is going wild.... One and the same personne offered first $272, $500 and then $1000 all in the space of 30 seconds.. with still more than 5 days to go. No chance on this one to get a good price for the package.... for $941 you can buy the package on auction without the hassle.... I wonder how high this package will go.... Obviously, this person has not done his/or her homework....
