We just purchased the 6 day Inkaterra peru trip. Has anyone done this through LL. If so, how was it? Anything we
should know about? Any info would be appreciated.

Re: 6 day peru trip
rosalita106....probably more people DO NOT experience altitude sickness than DO experience it. However, those who do experience it(and we have experienced it several times), tend to complain the most and talk about it more than those who have no problems.
You can take preventive medication (talk to your physician or do some research on the Internet)....or you can chew on coca leaves (which you can secure right at the airport in Lima or Cusco)....or you can plan on simply resting the day you arrive and let your body acclimate naturally. Most hotels will also have oxygen you can use as well.- Ω -

FYI I have found the service and response from Gabriela at Inkaterra wonderful. They are making all our in country flight arrangement & airport hotel booking, and it was only a few $$ more -but they will also make sure we get to all the flights!!!

rosalita106....no, the InkaTerra property in Cusco was not completed renovated when we took our first trip, so we stayed at the Orient-Express Monasterio (which you should stop by and see, if possible, during your time in Cusco).
We did have lunch and a spa service at InkaTerra's hotel inAguas Caliente while waiting for the train back to Cusco...very nice.
Hereare twolinks toblogs written on Cusco and Machu Picchu, if you care to read it.

Hi all,
Just saw this thread on Inkaterra's properties and auction in Peru!
After the initial frustration with Inkaterra (that I believe Gabriella is now handling and she isTOTALLY professional and an asset to Inkaterra),
weleft with a bit of trepidation. BUT....
it turned out to be aPEFECT trip; Inkaterra's accommodations are outstanding, their staff and guides very attentive (and I would advise spending time getting to know them- they appreciate it so, and offer much more if you are really interested in them personally - their jobs, their dreams, their Peru! We were told many stories of their families, their history, their passion for Peru - it was a very important component of our trip. But you need to make the initial effort.
It is an incredible country and I would recommend this trip - I would also highly recommend adding more time to it, especially in the Sacred Valley. There is so much to do and see; it just cannot be seen in one or two days. We added two days to SV and two days to Cusco and wish we had added more.
The Sacred Valley is beyond description - you must experience it:the beauty of the land and the people; the ruins - I still think of it quite often.
If you do decided to add additional nights, you need not stay in an Inkaterra property in the Sacred Valley - we found lovely, less expensive properties( Ink's villas run about $350/n for additional nights and that is really high in Peru) We stayed in one higher price property for $170 and loved it. But there are also others less than that. Doing some research will give you plenty of names.
I will be happy to answer any specific questions... After Africa, itis in the top Five of our travel life together.
Dana
