    Re: Air Fare Savings (YAPTA)

You all will not believe this. I just got another email alert from YAPTA that my Costa Rica ticket has come down AGAIN. I am now on hold with American Air to see if I will receive another credit. Thanks so much Omegaet for your tip. If I can get this savings, I will be up to over $200 credit to my credit card. Will keep you posted...I'm still on hold.

After two real-world users O and Bonniejoy's raves regarding Yapta, I went to download it but there currently isn;t a Mozilla Firefox version, only Internet Explorer (although it looks like Firefox is coming soon.) Just a heads up to any Firefox users who are interested - although I'll continue to check in with Yapta as it looks like a very handy tool.

    Re: Air Fare Savings (YAPTA)

Claassenam. OK everyone...first off...I do not work for YAPTA. With that said, I received ANOTHER email thatmy trip price went down AGAIN! Isn't this amazing. While on the phone with AA yesterday, they said they were going to give me a $192. credit (I have already received a $134 credit on my CC). I wondered why because YAPTA said I would receive $80.00. Well, I didn't argue but took it with a grain of salt. This morning, after researching my YAPTA email, I realized that my price drop posted today was given to me yesterday by AA!! AA was absolutely wonderful on the phone. (unlike my past experiences and run around with USAir.) The emails from YAPTA allow me to let someone else watch my price rather than me constantly checking it and hope I don't miss it. I am a true convert! Now, I will start adding my future trips. (YAPTA will allow you to watch prices on trips not yet booked.) With YAPTA and my LL auctions, I am set to go!!! (and at a reduced cost.) WOW.

bonniejoy03, I signed up with YAPTA and registered two upcoming trips. I am checking everyday to see if there is a change in air fares. Here is a BIG THANKS to you and omegaet for sharing the information regarding the site. This is what makes visting this community worth while for me. Thanks again!

    Re: Air Fare Savings (YAPTA)

I went ahead and downloaded YAPTA and use it with Internet Explorer. I'm using it for one trip that I haven't booked to look for a better fare as well as another trip that is already booked. It's very helpful and as you've found bonniejoy it seems like it can really pay off! United was willing to give me a travel voucher, no questions asked, which is good to know. The one thing to be careful of is to make sure your booking class isn't downgraded when you do so if you are considering trying to upgrade with miles. If I had taken the United voucher, I would drop in booking class to a non-upgradeable fare. What YAPTA did do was reassure me that the current fare I have is the best possible one for my booking class. I am looking forward to YAPTA's help with future flights. Thanks again for the heads up Omegaet and the endorsement bonniejoy!

Hi Mountie. Just an FYI. You don't need to check. They will send you an email when the price changes. That's the great benefit of this program. You just wait for the email! (I guess I really hurt the jackpot with receiving two emails within a week!) I can't ask for too much more! My November trip to Costa Rica keeps going down!

I was just reading about YAPTA. Do you still get a refund if the rates go down ifyou have purchased a non refundable e-ticket?

    Re: Air Fare Savings (YAPTA)

lweyler, I checked the faq section on YAPTA and this is what I noticed. The trips I have registered with YAPTA are non refundable e-tickets, so I will wait to see what happens. Maybe bonniejoy03 or omegaet can share their experiences.

How do I qualify for a refund on my airline ticket?

Keep in mind that Airlines are not legally obligated to offer refunds to passengers who paid for their tickets, particularly if you have purchased a non-refundable and non-exchangeable tickets, which is mostly the case in the U.S. The refund policies are at the discretion of each airline. It really depends on the airline and the specific fare code of the ticket. Sometimes you can get vouchers or a credit without it costing a single penny, sometimes you get a voucher or a credit for a fee, and sometimes a refund to your credit card, and on some fares your get nothing. We.ve done our best to outline each of the airlines. policies and give you instructions on how to obtain your refund.

    Re: Air Fare Savings (YAPTA)

Hi Lweyler. My tickets to Costa Rica are the cheapest, non-refundable type ticket to purchase. I had thought in the past that you received the difference LESS a service fee. That is not the case. I received the exact difference in price credited to my credit card within one week! This was on American Airlines. (which I now hold in high regards!) US Air in the past had given credits. And, the rules with credits vary hourly! Sometimes you can only use one, sometimes two, etc. I am still in shock. Of course, you can watch your own fares daily but with YAPTA, you let someone else do the watching for you.

Thanks to both of you for the info. Where are you going in Costa Rica Bonniejoy03? My husband and I have been there twice. We loved it. Costal areas are very very hot though.
