kyshel, I think your recent posting in response to mountie simply confirmed that all of us who fly for business or leisure are adversely affected by rising costs, whether married to an airline employee or not.

Re: Air Fare Savings (YAPTA)
kyshel, is this possible? What does your inside track at DL have to say about the references to "nasty" "rude" "obnoxious" and "totally disrespectful"? On the other hand, maybe the attorney washighlighting his finer qualities.
Lawyer suing airlines for $1 million for rudeness
Initial reaction to a lawyer suing Delta Air Lines for $1 million for incompetence and rude employees has been favorable, according to various reports.
Richard Roth said he and his family, including his 80-year-old mother celebrating a birthday, had a stressful and costly horror trip to South America.
Mr Roth said Delta misplaced his luggage, which meant he had to buy new clothes for himself and family members after arriving in Buenos Aires.
During the ordeal, Roth's court papers say, several Delta employees were "nasty," "rude," "obnoxious" and "totally disrespectful," according to the AP. Those who were courteous were generally not effective in assisting him, he said.
A Delta spokeswoman said she could not comment on pending litigation.
Mr Roth of Scarsdale, NY, said he arranged for his mother to fly to her native Argentina during the 2007 Christmas holidays. He said he and his family were scheduled to fly from the Westchester County Airport last December.
In Atlanta, a gate agent refused to let Roth and his family onto the jet for the connecting flight, although the plane was sitting at the gate with the door open, according to court papers.
Mr Roth said that after he and his family spent two nights in Atlanta, a ticket agent told him Delta could not get him to Argentina for weeks. So they flew to Florida, spent a night there and bought tickets on an Aerolineas Argentina flight to Buenos Aires.

Re: Air Fare Savings (YAPTA)
There's a lot more to it, obviously!
I loved your remarks about the attorney.
Unconfirmed report that he made a huge scene at both airports.
I know HPN airport well--4 gates, one bar.
Their RJ was on the tarmac, door was probably open, waiting for paperwork. If they were late to the gate, it wouldn't matter, the flight was "closed".
The next flight would get them into ATL too late to get any 80 yr old (Maybe not 100 yr old Jack LaLanne!) to the EZE gate.
It was Christmas week, about 9 pm by now, bags were misplaced and I'm sure no one had tempers flaring and I might guess that some alcohol consumption was a factor.
No DL seats avail for party of five to fly together for weeks. All the rest is between the 2 parties involved.
We could all write an imaginary tale of what happened in the next few days. I'll bet none of us can come up with a story as good as the truth."wherever you go, there you are"

kyshel, I read another article in the WSJ this morning about Continential cutting jobs, reducing flightsand mothballing air planes. I think you will see more of the legacy carrierstaking the same actions. At the same time, increasing air fares means fewer and fewer discretionary trips for leisure and closer scrutiny of business trips. So, we're in a settling out cycle. Eventually, less demand will translate to reductions in fuel demand, lowering ofoil pricesand the downward cycle begins. Still a good time to shop for bargain travel here at luxury link, if you can afford to travel to the destination.

Re: Air Fare Savings (YAPTA)
I read the WSJ article yesterday and spoke to some people. Looks like a lot of these cut backs will happen beginning September.Rumors are circulating that many of the Caribbean flights are going to be reduced. (whether to the individual island or the flights that go from the East Coast toSan Juan.) This is definitely going to hurt the economies and all the new building projects going on in some of the countries. Also, it looks as if more people will go towards cruising so as not to having to fly and deal with all of these changes.

Re: Air Fare Savings (YAPTA)
bonniejoy03, mountie, kyshel and others....I had a bit of a chuckle this morning when I opened an email from YAPTA informing me of the tracking job they have been doing for me on an uncoming trip....pretty impressive "bump" upward in just a month and of course, this doesn't include the checked baggage fee:

Hi omegaet,
Yapta has been hard at work checking prices for you several times a day. Here's a snapshot of the flights we're currently tracking for you:
Flights You've Purchased:
6/17-6/23 MIA to LAX(2)Current Price: $999.00 Must drop below $249 to receive an airline travel credit.
(up $600.00 since tracking started on 05/10/08)
Remember, prices change often, so keep an eye out for future email alerts from Yapta. For complete price history or to review the details for each flight itinerary before purchasing directly from the airline, click on the above links. Additionally, you can track prices on more flights by using the Yapta browser - so drop us an email.
Thanks,

Thanks for the advice on YAPTA.COM - I used it recently for a cruise to Tahiti, and booked my tickets through them. They did keep updating me on the price changes, etc - and I had no problems with the flights (other than they were late - but that was an airline issue), and as I travel extensively - I definitely am keeping this website "bookmarked" for future reference. Thanks again for the GREAT ADVICE!!

Have any community members been able to save any money on air fares using YAPTA recently?
I have all of my upcoming business trips registered and I do get an email from them now and then, but the slight reductions do not offset the change fees.
Has YAPTA become obsolete in these market conditions?

Re: Air Fare Savings (YAPTA)
Hi Mountie. My airfare on AA went down but I wasn't notified by Yapta? I was able to get a credit. The fare came donw $130.00. So, with their fee of $100, I just received a $30 credit in the mail. (they used to credit your credit card.) Now, what is the fee to book with this voucher on the phone...$25??? I don't think I hit the lotto! Also, don't you think the 100 fee should be a tax deduction? With all the fees we will be paying to fly, I think we should get some type of compensation whether it is a tax credit, blue ribbon, etc. I bet I will be in the running this year for the most fees paid by the average citizen just to fly. And this includes having to overnight in a hotel at my expense because the airline redid their schedules! (hopefully I am not sounding too angry!)
