Attaining contributor status

How do I obtain contributor status, will that happen automatically as I continue to use the message boards, or do I need to do something?

This seems to be an automatic process. You have already passed to contributor status. But I think this is the end of the line. From this LL will chose their top 10% to assign VIP Contributor status at the end of every quarter, meaning end of Dec. 06. Tell me if I am wrong. There is little info on this. Maybe LL should shed more light on this topic.

At first, I too womdered about how to become a "VIP Contributor". After browsing LL's Community webpages a bit, I soon found the answer. It's set out on the page headed "TIPS FOR USING LUXURY LINK". Near the top of that page you'll see "Announcements". Under this heading, there's a bolded section entitled "Become a VIP Contributor". At the end of that section is "Read more...". Click on it and it takes you to another page where the answer is set out, as follows: "At the end of each quarter, LL will select the top 10% of contributors and award them the status of 'VIP Contributor'. Yes, I guess we all have read that line that at the end of each quarter LL will select the top 10% to award VIP status and price that goes with it, but there is really not a great deal of information on it. I guess this whole thing is new for LL to get some travel boards going. I noticed that for instance LL editors or LL moderators have posted hundreds of messages to replies, are they part of the group that figures into contributors, eligible for VIP contributor???? LL could be a little more specific on how the ranking goes. I figured out you go from new user to community member after your first 10 messages, after your first 25 messages you pass to contributor, next status seems to be regular contributor... what next??? I guess we will find out by the end of the months, and with any luck LL will be a little more explicit.

Also, I noticed that some of the messages are a little thin.... There is a rating column that is ranking the info, but I have had no answer to my questions to one of the moderators on who applies the ranking and how the ranking is done. Does anyone know how this ranking system works?

These are just my own observations, but now we are on to yet another status of "Trusted Contributor"? I wish LL would shed some light on their rating system, but I guess this is all very new, even to LL......

The LL Editors and Moderators are not eligible for VIP Contibutor status.
They are simply the people who posted the original content in the community - and we wanted to be certain that our users could differentiate between content that LL has placed in the Communnity as
opposed to content posted by users.




The rating - in terms of a 1 to 5 rating - is determined by other users.
If you find a message helpful, or for that matter not very helpful, then the user can rate the message.
It is all anonymous - and a high rating does affect your ranking.
But as we pointed out on another forum, much of these questions will be sorted out when we select our first group of VIP Members.
