04-04-2008, 04:16 PMBidding confusion
Hi everyone, I've just joined the group and now I'd like to start bidding on some of the travel deals but I have a couple of questions that I can't find answers to - can someone help please?
Here is my question:
for example: a package for 7-days for 4 people at a resort, the retail price is $3500. the last bid is for $1200 so far I understand this - now comes my confusion. Is this price per night? is this the total cost of the whole package for 7 days for 4 people? or is this amount per person (ie $1200x4). I'm really confused.Help!

Re: Bidding confusion
Hi memoie,
First of all let me welcome you to the LL Community. We are all here to help and we hope you will become one of the valued VIP Contributors in time. As to your question. Here is the answer. The package for 7 days for 4 people is valued at retail $ 3500. The last LL bid sits at $1200. If you have made that bid for $1200 and no one else bid more than $1200 at closing time of the auction, it is yours for $1200. Quite a deal at almost 2/3rds of a saving. However, please read up on Automatic Auction bidding. LL is just now switching to a bidding system, akin to e-bay bidding, where you can put in your maximum bid, and if no-one bids higher, you get the auction at the lowest bid below your maximum offer. This new system starts on April 8.
Good Luck with your bidding, and again, welcome to the LL Community of passionate travellers.

Re: Bidding confusion
Hi memoie. Welcome to the community. It is the total price. The only thing that COULD be added is listed under the description and the dates the trip could be used. A few properties have clauses about other possible costs such as taxes. Please read it carefully. All of the properties I have used were very straight forward but I did read the description so as to know exactly what was included and not included in my package. Good luck and hope you get a great deal!!!

not to be dense, but where do you place the maximum bid? Do you simply place it in the normal bid box for the auction?

Re: Bidding confusion
Welcome to the community...and you are not dense! We all have to learn at the beginning.
Except for Mystery Auctions, to place your max bid, just fill it in. It is that simple. The LL bidding system will do the rest. The following is a link to a LL bidding page that I think will clear it up for you. http://www.luxurylink.com/about/abt_...v=rul#standard

Re: Bidding confusion
Memoi and Denisburk,
You can also get additional value for your LL package by accessing LL via your frequent flier site, such as skymilesshopping.com. There is a discussion thread on LL about it that you may find useful:

I just bid on a package and won at the price of $860.00 In the confirmation e-mail it stated that I had to pay a much higher price if I was going to use it during certain dates, which turned out to be the majority of the dates. This was NEVER stated anywhere on the auction site. Has this happened to anyone else? I feel totally ripped off.
