Buying a trip and getting the trip dates you want
Have you had trouble getting dates of a trip you wanted? I have never had a problem before but am having trouble right now booking the dates I wanted for a trip that I purchased. This is the first time it has happened to me. I don't know what the solution will be as I am only going to be in that area around a specific time and can't go any other time due to other trips (business) already planned and booked. Don't think I can get a refund, so I am not sure what is going to happen. Does anyone have some tips, suggestions or had this problem?

I have never had a problem getting the dates I want - they do state that if it is around a holiday period, your specific dates may not be possible. I just booked 3 LL packages and was able to combine them all together into 1 trip and I had to change the dates for 1 of them and had no problems at all and this is for March which is usually considered 1 of the peak times for Mexico travel.

betsyv--No refunds avail but I guess you can try to sell it here, if your dates don't open up. Won't be the first time it's happened. Sorry to hear you had issues. Where is this one? You always buy interesting pkgs...maybe someone here will be receptive...

08-09-2010, 03:45 PMAn Update! I had researched the property in New Hampshire and made sure using their reservations system that it wasn't sold out and then won the auction. They balked at the first two date requests I made. I finally did third request where we will check in on a Tuesday and leave on Friday (3 night trip) and they accepted. So we are booked. But I firmly believe they did not want to give a weekend stay or weekend night stay and I just think that is wrong. I am looking at October 19-22, it is not holiday and there were no blackout dates. Some properties mentioned only Sunday -Thursday stays but this one did not. It is my gut that they are playing games but we will see. So good news - I don't need a refund, Bad news - it is the first property that has ever give me the slightest problem and the first property in the USA that I have tried. I do appreciate all the info. I think the LL community is one of the top features of the site!

08-10-2010, 04:25 AMKyshel,
I know and thought there would be a blackout date for the leaf season or a stipulation like another property-this package is for Sunday through Thursday night stays only. But neither one. And when I called the property to inquire they said that we will be a little late for the peak of the leaf season. My only thing was if they are going to not allow you to do weekends, they should say it. I combined those 4 trips to South Africa and had no problem arranging that whole trip. I try to go to NH in October and had to submit 4 different dates. It was just weird.
Pls do ask me anything about Asia. I am using the new Delta Detroit to Hong Kong nonstop and love it so far. Just wish they had it from Atlanta...

B...very interesting... I had a minor issue with our Baltimore property. I called the property and they said they were available HOWEVER, I had to call a special person to check if MY PACKAGE was available because LL packages were handled differently?? Of course, I bid without calling the special person. Well, the date wasn't available. I did work through the LL concierge and they were able to find a date for us. (not our first choice though) I also had never had this problem with availability so really made me more aware of the auction process. (PS-We also had friends who just fell in love with a property, bid (without calling) and then the disappointment of not having their property available. I was so sad to hear they were sad but it actually worked out and they talked to mgt at the property and found out why it wasn't available (repeat group that comes every year). So, our friends just changed by a day and everyone was happy. Now, let's hope their stay is wonderful!!

08-11-2010, 05:28 AMBonnie, it is good to know that I am not the ONLY one. I was concerned about this before I bought my first LL package but after buying the 4 in So Africa and having no problem combining them into one trip and getting every date I wanted, I relaxed. Then other trips were no problem, until this one. I guess if you are very flexible then it is okay. But for this trip we were only going to be in the area for that week and I could not be flexible. Matter of fact, the day after I return to Florida, I am headed overseas to Hong Kong. I do hope that your friends enjoy themselves. I have loved every LL property and package I have tried.
