Confused about a couple of things

Does anyone know why or how a thread becomes a sticky thread on the general board? I just noticed that a couple of threads I started are stickied and I didn't do it. The topics aren't anything grand, so why would it get stickied?

Also, on the destinations USA board older threads that have not been updated with a post are all on the 1st page and the newer threads from this month are on the 2nd page. This makes it look like it never moves and no one is posting there.

I have not seen any true "sticky" threads on this forum - if so, they would constantly show up on top; to which threads are you referring? Perhaps the threads you started are marked as "hot" (meaning lots of posts, good job!) or "replied to", etc.

Regarding the Destinations section, it looks like as that section was condensed many older posts were moved into the various country categories, causing them to show up on top and in bold as unread - again, is that to what you are referring?...it's just something we'll have to deal with as part of the overall Destinations section reorganization, which I think was a great decision. Once you go through and read (or pretend to read!) the old posts, they will no longer be bold but I'm not sure that they will move into a consecutive timeframe unless the LL moderator does so. I don't think it would be a bad idea to do so so the newest posts are on top

Now I'm really confused... I definitely get stickies on the general board depending on where I access it. Although sometimes it may be cashed and it seems to be from every source. This link is from the Community/General Discussions link on top of the page.

Does anyone else get stickies from this?

Now my turn to be confused! Okay, I clicked the link, which shows me the main general discussion board topics. No "sticky" posts that I can see....the most recent posts are up top. What exactly are you seeing? Perhaps it is something chosen in your profile to rearrange posts in some way or maybe put the ones you began up top?

Hi Bonniejoy,

"Stickies" are posts that are "stuck" to the top of a forum of posts permanently by the moderators...usually they are very general posts explaining the rules of the forum or some basic information that gets repeated quite a bit so they are "stuck" there so everyone sees them and will read them before posting on the forum.

I don't think Luxury Link has any stickies (yet) - do you see any?

However, imbues may be seeing something I am not....

imbues& classenam....You can do a little customizing in the subscribed messages and subscribe threads sections of subscriptions and bookmarks, however, wehave not seen a true stickie as we know them to exist in some other communities. Maybe we are missing something.

I swear that sometimes I get about 20 stickies on top of the General Discussion board. Today it's not there, but sometimes it is and the threads are not hot ones. Some of them are really old, with a one rating and no replies, like most of my threads.

Hi Ome, where is the subscribed threads and bookmarks, maybe I have to deselect something?

imbues...go to My Profile, then look for the drop down for Subscriptions....you should be able to figure out what is happening by deselecting or just going to default.

Now I get it, they call it a "floated thread" and for some reason I must have hit the float a thread button by accident.(It's the button on the end of each thread) At least I finally got rid of all those threads on top. Every time I posted about the stickies bothering me here the LL mods must have thought I was nuts. LOL
