"Favorite Destinations" boards
It seems that despite the reorganization of the destination boards, they don't seem to be getting much traffic. Either that, or maybe it's only the ones I'm viewing ...
The problem I see is that you must drill down a couple of levels to see if there are any new posts. I think it would be very helpful to show the last update for each section at the top level where you see all of the boards. That way we could quickly see where there has been a new posting, without having to drill down to see that there is nothing new. The additional boards are a great idea, but I think a couple of tweaks would make them more user friendly. Any other ideas to get some action on those discussions?

Re: "Favorite Destinations" boards
Disneygal - thank you so much for echoing what I've been trying to say (apparently unsuccessfully) over the past month or so. As much as we all like some organization in the boards, it seems that the more "organized" the destination boards become, the more broken up they are and the fewer visits and posts they receive. It's really becoming counterproductive at this point. I'd love to read all of the new posts (to any thread) on luxury link each time I visit but to have to click and drill down into the destination threads is incredibly time consuming. I hope they'll create a homepage - much like the main community page now - that shows the number of new messages for the destination and travel styles threads as well as the general threads.

Hi claassenam,
I did go back and see that you brought this up previously - sorry I missed the discussion the first time around. I hope further improvements to the organization of the boards are still to come.

Re: "Favorite Destinations" boards
Disneygal,
No worries, I wasn't trying to dissuade you from posting at all, I am thrilled to find somebody who agrees! Now, I see we got some very low "ratings" (another pet peeve!) on our posts, does that mean others disagree with our thoughts? I'll never understand the ratings system, but at any rate it looks like the LL moderators do take our feedback under consideration and I'm hoping they'll make the simple change to the destinations boards.
Does anyone else agree or disagree with us regarding the destination boards? I've definitely noticed a lack of traffic there since they changed the format and expanded the number of locations. I have no problem with the expanded number of locations, I just wish we could easily see which threads have new posts.

I would be so much easier if we could see the number of new posts...with so many boards, it takes me an age to check them and these days I have far less time online.

Re: "Favorite Destinations" boards
Hi Claassenam and Jenna,
I'm glad we've put this issue back in the forefront, even though it had been discussed previously. Also, many topics posted under "General Travel Q & A" are really destination specific. If the destination boards were easier to use, perhaps people would be more likely to use that section instead for those questions/discussions.
Claassenam, I agree with your comments about the ratings. I think the low ratings are often given to "thank you" posts and "I agree" posts, where no new information is covered. But still, in an online community I find those posts add value to the discussion and camaraderie.

Could it be happening? I'm noticing a lot of nice changes to the boards today - something is going on over at the destinations homepage, let's hope they are granting us our wish!

Re: "Favorite Destinations" boards
The Destinations boards are starting to look a lot better and make more sense - great job moderators! Previously after the monster destinations boards redo there seemed to be a lot of overlap - for example one thread for "California" and another for "Northern California" and yet another for "Southern California" so that someone looking for San Francisco might check "California" and miss the posts in "Northern California"; the same for many of the countries where there was a general heading and then it was broken up into too many regional choices (I thought) - now they are a little more condensed yet broad enough that most of the world's great destinations are covered. Thanks for the changes!
