Honeymoon in Moorea and Bora Bora
Hi All-
I'm getting married in July and fiance and I are trying to make our budget work for Bora Bora and Moorea. We went on Tahiti Travel Mate and was quoted a somewhat hefty price of $8500 for 8 nights (4 split on each island). We are trying to negotiate by cutting the package shorter and buying a package here on LL. We figured the Travelmate package helps since it includes flights as well. We thought if we did 5 nights with Travelmate and 4 nights wtih LL we could save some $$. Most of the packages that I've looked at fits our dates but does anyone know if it's possible to call and check hotel dates before buying a package? I'd hate to buy the package then realize that they were overbooked or not available etc. Anyone have any similar experiences.. wisdom would be great appreciated!!
Re: Honeymoon in Moorea and Bora Bora
Congrats Babz!! I think you're doing a good thing to combine an air pkg with one of the LL deals--and ometimes you don't necessarily want to save $ but get more for your dollar.
It'susually standard practice to check availability prior to bidding on a pkg. Some properties have a no-charge phone link; most can be emailed, giving you date options in writing. Keep in mind that some of the South Pacific properties may not answer quickly, due to internet systems. You might have to email a second time if you don't get a timely reply.
Are you departing form the States? You might want to look at some airline websites, like Air Pacific or connectors like Korean or Cathay that may have some air deals, too.
You might be able to get 2 LL pkgs and make your own travel deal!

Hi Kyshel-
Thanks for the info! We live in Boston but figured that we could use our frequent flyer miles to get us to LA since most of the packages seem to fly out of there. I did look on travelocity and those similar websites.. the flights only didn't make it a very good bargain. I will be sure to email them and find out. Thanks for your help!
Re: Honeymoon in Moorea and Bora Bora
You may want to still look at airline partners and their specific websites for your FF miles. They may have some specials and or/flights you where you can upgrade to business using your miles instead of getting your FF seats to LAX. Just some ideas to investigate.
We fly standby as employees for major carrier but often use miles to upgrade or make the connections. Example: I'm looking at Fiji, but we have no "deal" for standby to get there easily. We can fly from the States to Korea and then use miles to fly business class confirmed seats for the next RT to Nadi, Fiji.
ps--did you see the Beqa Island LL pkg?--meals included--diving, etc! for 7 nights
Good luck.

Don't forget to keep a watchful eye on farecast.com. I've been seeing some great airfare prices there.
Congrats and good luck with your travel planning!
