07-07-2007, 11:38 AMHotel D'Inghliterra, Rome and Hotel Claris, Barcelona
We just returned from a two week trip to Europe. We began in Rome with our purchased luxurylink"Buy Now" package for D'Inghliterra. It was terrific! The hotel is luxury all the way. The staff were very gracious and the hotel a class act. We loved the intimate feel that it gave us. Breakfast was super however, the restaurant for dinner was only ok.We spent 9 days cruisingwith Silversea on the "Silverwind". We enjoyed the trip very much. The crew catered to our every desire. However, during the last three days of our stay, when in Barcelona, we stayed at the Hotel Claris on an auction package from Luxurylink. The package, itself was great, however, we would not choose to stay at this hotel again. It was much too austere. This comment by my husband is almost unheard of. He is definitely a minimalist. The beds were not chosen for comfort and the bedding not the least bit inviting. The staff was helpful the buffet breakfasts really great, butI would never refer to this property as "luxury".All in all, the hotel Claris may need to reininvent itself. It's jsut not up to standard as far as a top notch place to stay because the accomodations provite little, if any at all, comfort when rest is what you want to do.

Stayed at hotel Claris for a weekend, hotel was beautiful and in a great location. You can walk literally two blocks one way and you have Casa Battlo, walk two blocks the other way and you have Casa Milo both Gaudi must sees! It is also very close to the Metro and some great restaurants.
The staff were very helpful and totally on the ball, if we seemed like we needed help they would come to our assistance before we even had a chance to ask.
The only thing I didn't like about the hotel was my room, it was basic and stuffy as the window wouldn't open and one of the lights above the bed wouldn't switch off. Definitely not 5 star quality. It was also very very noisy being on the main road and reminded me of staying in 2 star hotels in Paris on a college trip - you could hear everything going on outside and in the corridors.
All in all it is a very chic little hotel.
Just make sure you get a decent room
