Hotel Hoffmeister Offering
It really is a lovely place to stay and an excellent value. Just wanted to mention it to the new members who might "pass it over" whilst perusing the home page. Their breakfast (bubbly included) is comparable to Eu$15-20 person if you like full breakfast. Dinner @ Ada is outstanding as well. The steam treatment is not to be missed if you buy the pkg--so unique!

Hi Kyshel,
Thanks for mentioning this package. We purchased it a while ago and we will be there in March. Your comments were very helpful and we are looking forward to our stay there.

Re: Hotel Hoffmeister Offering
lhb...it was kyshel's glowing report on the Hotel Hoffmeister that aided us in the final selection for our last visit to Prague. We had friends, who reside part of the year in Prague, check out the property prior to our arrival and take some candid photos for us. This is one of valuable aspects of this community, being able to share first hand experiences and observationsrelating to actual properties being considered for purchase. She was also "spot on" regarding the cozy spa and special steam room! We loved the location....not right in the middle of the tourist area, but an easy walk or tram ride to any location.

Hi O,
Thanks for the additional information on the Hoffmeister Hotel. The hotel reservation clerk was very nice when we made our reservation for March. We will be arriving by train from Budapest around 20:30 PM and she offered to send a car for us to the train station to pick us up. Now that's service right of the bat... We look forward to stay there and to write back to you all on our experience.

Re: Hotel Hoffmeister Offering
LHBrown - I am really looking forward to reading your "trip report" on Prague and Budapest when you return in March as I am currently investigating a similar trip for May. There are an overwhelming number of fantastic-sounding hotel options available on Luxury Link in Prague and I am so torn between them! Hotel Hoffmeister does sound great, as do The Alchymist Hotel, Le Palais and Hotel Savoy. How did everybody choose Hotel Hoffmeister from among the offerings?
For Budapest the only offering is Hotel Andrassy, which sounds fine, and I did see your warning regarding the LL pricing versus the hotel's web site pricing, but as I am looking to use a VIP gift certificate I'm sure I'd still come out alright in the end.
At any rate, as you are such a seasoned European traveler I'm sure you will be a wealth of excellent information upon your return....

LL-Travelfan.....one other thing came to mind. Check on your reservations and the specific suite just before you depart for Prague. If the "Honeymoon" suite is available, they will likely offer it to you at no additional cost. Be aware, this suite is on two floors with the main bath on the first floor....fancy soaking tub and separate shower...an interesting suspended "swing" in front of the make-up and sink area and opens to the main living room area....on the second floor is the bedroom and a half bath (toilet and sink). You actually have to walk up a long staircase from the hotel hallwayto reach the main floor of the suite, then another staircase to reach the bedroom. Apparently, some visitors are not interested in doing all that much walking.....the front desk manager suggested we investigate the suite before moving in, just to make certain we were comfortable with the stairs. There stairs were not a problem for us and we enjoyed the stay.
They do have other suites they also offer LL package clients.- Ω -

Re: Hotel Hoffmeister Offering
Claassenam--I have not stayed at the Andrassy Budapest, but for locations being similar and knowing the Kempinski well, I could recommend it for use with LL GC. We've stayed in the junior suite and it's generous with a fine bath. Their spa is lovely and their treatments are rather expensive when not included. Breakfast usually runs about E$20pp. I could guess that the dinner would probably run E$100, so the price is excellent, particularly when you have complimentary internet(which I recall being up there E$15-20/day)

Re: Hotel Hoffmeister Offering
Hi kyshel, omegaet and claassenam,
Just returned from the Hoffmeister in Prague and the Andrassy Hotel in Budapest. The Hoffmeister was everything you said it was. We had suite 309 with separate living area and jaccuzzi bath with glass shower next to it (no upgrade to Honeymoon suite, but that was fine with us).
The location was excellent, right below castle hill and only a short walk to the Karls Bridge and the Old Town. The 6-cours degustation dinner with assorted wines was fabulous, as a matter of fact, we repeated the dinner with different foods and wines on our last evening and it was just as good as the first time around. The hotel secured Opera tickets for us to see Verdi's Nabucco. The tickets were front row seats, what a treat. The National Gallery beyond the Castle is a must-see with so many master pieces, and one of the best Rembrandts, Goyas and El Grecos. Even though we had been to Prague before, we will definitely go back to Prague to see more of it.

Hoffmeister Hotel and our Room
Classenam, the Andrassy Hotel is fine, I have no hesitation recommending it. Our room on the top floor which featured a bacony with a small table and chairs was spacious and very nicely appointed and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner at the Baraka Restaurant was very good and the service excellent. There are no spa facilities on the premises, but you can use a small fitness room and even smaller sauna at their sister hotel, a few blocks away. However, the public bath just past Hero Square is a must. The friendliness and honesty of the Andrassy Hotel staff deserves an extra mention. I left my camera sitting at the computer station after dinner, and the concierge found it while doing the evening sweep and returned it to me the next morning. Not many would have done so.... I cannot tell you how relieved I was to get my camera back. The Andrassy hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood, but is close to the Hero Square and the Museum of Fine Arts, the Hungarian National Museum, the Kogart House and Restaurant and the Opera. There is a Metro just a few feet away that will take you into the Center of town and to the River Danube, or you can walk the 2.5 km to get into the center of town and to the many other attractions.

Hi LHBrown,
Thanks so much for your in-depth look at the hotels in Prague and Budapest. I can't wait to go in May! The Andrassy Hotel does look nice enough, and I am interested to find out how the package I purchased for the Hotel Savoy in Prague compares to what appears to be a wonderful Hotel Hoffmeister. Thanks again!

Hi travelfan
Your post on the Hoffmeister and Andrassy Hotels accompanied by pictures of these two establishments speaks volumes. What most impressed me was that your camera was returned to you safe and sound by the concierge of the Andrassy. That is amazing and something I'm sure you'll never forget.
