Hi Omegaet,
You are probably right - we will see soon enough, just a few more days to the end of the month.

Hi L
Almost like waiting for Christmas morning, isn't it? Exciting to see who the first 10% VIPs will be!

You're right on the mark. I bet their matrix also includes total log-ins, total time online, and the number of messages read by each contributor.

Re: How to become a "Regular Contributor"
cj---it just makes sense that LL is looking for "quality content" in the postings and not just quantity. That has certainly been the approach of the folks that operate www.tripadvisor.com ....over the years, I seen them block a number of contributors for a variety of reasons. I hope LL will take the same approach in dealing with this new area. The more "quality" information the LL staff can pick up from contributors, the better things will be for the company and the better things will be for us, the members of the community.

Re: How to become a "Regular Contributor"
Hi Curt, and Hi O,
Yes you are right, there is a certain excitement there to find out who will make the 10% VIP Contributors. I also agree with you both that the quality of the posts will weighted and should be weighted. That is why it is up to us to rate the posts, and be dilligent about it. I see many of good post still unrated and I religiously rate them. We all should go back and make sure we rate the posts since this is an important part of the VIP Contributor selection. Also, I feel, until LL establishes the format, we are still beating a dead hors with speculation on format, rating, ranking etc. Once the format will be set, I believe we will see more posts with more substance on the properties themselves. The comments on the General Discussion section have grown so large, that I find myself spending time wading through all those comments so as not to overlook posts that were replies to some of mine, so by the time I get to the Destination and Style discussions, I am worn out and my time on the computer is up and it's time to go to bed. Once LL has set the format, I believe we will see more quality comments pertaining to the actual properties. Happy Waiting --- Everybody is in the same boat - it's funny that this LL decision coincides almost with Christmas, so yeah, it's a little bit like waiting for Christmas...

Couldn't agree with you more on this point. "Quality" responses are key and that's why it's so important for us all to rate all the posts we see. I spend quite a bit of my time on LL, like L.Brown does, reading new posts and rating all of them. one suggestion: LL should perhaps start to cull all older posts with an average rating of 2 or below, so as to get rid of the "fluff" and eliminate the need for readers to plow through those with very little value-added.

Re: How to become a "Regular Contributor"
Hi L
Wow! Yes, I can hardly wait to find out who'll be the VIP contributors. Sure hope it'll be those who've added a lot of good information and suggestions. And, rating the posts is obviously also a key function that all participants need to take seriously.
Each evenening, like you and others, I open up my E-mail box to look for LL post responses. These last few days, there's been so many to review and respond to that I too find myself finishing late each evening (sometimes well after mid-night). Then, I turn to look at the new stuff that LL has on its Auctions and Buy Now sections.
Merry Christmas to you & yours!

Re: How to become a "Regular Contributor"
Hi C,
Your suggestion for LL Moderators to cull ratings below 2 is a good one. It would make sense to eliminate those posts that are mere courtesey posts with little substance.
Merry Christmas to you and yours

Also think Ll might want to set up a "best before" timeline on all posts and automatically elininate all posts more than six months old. otherwise, I can see the LL Community expanding to a point where there'll be thousands of posts and it'll be next to impossible, due to the time it would take, for anyone to look at all of them. After all, would we not want to read the latest posts for the most up-to-date information. In this fast-changing world, data more than six months old is likely to be stale or irrelevant or worse yet, just plain wrong.

Re: How to become a "Regular Contributor"
Hi Frequent Flyer,
Your suggestion sounds like a good idea. TripAdvisor puts the latest reviews first, but sometimes an older review is better than none.... I can't wait till LL comes out with their new format to give us more guidance, right now we are just wandering in the dark...
