Re: HOW DO I BECOME AN LL EDITOR-AWESOME JOB !!!
From what I understand, the opinions and reviews anyone gives here are assets to another "wondering" traveler. I would not expect LL Editors to cede their jobs to contributors.
I am pleased to add my 2 pennies to any property or place I've visited.
Maybe I'm not understanding the issue/question, as another poster asked earlier--or am I having the same type of day?
I'm able to ask at for a visit at any property I'm curious about; the hotel can offer me a tour at their discretion--whether it's LL listed or not. I've done it many a time and have usually been graciously allowed to view a room or two if time permits. I'm not travel agent, say so and rarely get turned away from a brief tour.
Many of us have already posted our experiences from bidding to booking to arrival and service. What am I missing here? I'm not crazy, am I?
(Don't answer that, y'all!!)

Re: HOW DO I BECOME AN LL EDITOR-AWESOME JOB !!!
curtiejoe.....weve never posted any comments on becoming an LL Editor, the original subject and solicitation for submit a resume was initiated by enewseven.
That, notwithstanding, we do have thoughts. First of all, we have the suspicion LL_Editors are LA based, principally employed to collect, review and edit submitted material from potential properties and write engaging marketing summaries for use on the LL web site. We doubt LL_Editors are globetrotting vagabonds with unlimited travel itineraries and expense accounts, in foreign countries, sitting at bistro table savoring fine wines, writing comments on their blackberrys editorializing onthe luxury properties they have visited.
Why do we think this? At six of the last seven luxury link properties we have visited, none of the employees or owners indicated ever having meeting anyone from LL face to face. Only one owner confirmed having met LL representatives at a travel conference in Acapulco and signing up to participate as a result of their presentation. We have been told by other owners and employees of participating properties they were referred to LL by other happy and satisfied participating properties and decided to give the program a try.
This is not a criticism of how we believe LL operates(ifour observations are even accurate), but rather a complement to a successful business model.
By the way, we do think LL_Moderators and LL_Editors do have a chance to travel now and then and we believe they enjoy destinations offered on this site.
Lastly, the comments generated through this community, positive and negative, must bevaluable to LL, otherwise, why would they pay the programing costs tomaintain the community and award $500 certificates and other perks to community participants?
Just our personal opinions!- Ω -

My mistake. It's been a while since this discussion started and I assumed you were the originator, as you have contributed a number of original and thought-provoking posts on a wide range of subjects over the past nine months or so that I've been an active participant in the LL Community. Be that as it may, I appreciate your insightful observations and comments on the role of the LL Editors and Moderators. As I agree with your views, it seems more appropriate now than ever for LL to seriously consider the suggestion made by enewseven and others that VIP Conrtibutors, who do travel widely and who do have a lot of experience and knowledge about luxury properties and destinations around the world, be given the opportunity to become LL editors. Now I know that we do have certain tools at our disposal already, such as our own blog board and all the other travel boards on the LL Community for expressing our views and sharing our experiences, but a more direct role in reviewing and commenting on properties available on LL as auction items or 'Buy Now' selections could be very helpful to other prospectibe bidders/buyers, especially those new to the LL Community.

curtiejoe (or any other member), how would you see this Editorship working? What would the responsibilities of this special Editor be? How would it differ from the information so many members in this community presently share? Is it our collective opinionstaff members from luxury link actually visit and evaulate each of the listed properties? Maybe I'm just having one of those I just don't quite understand type of days, so maybe someone can help me out here. Thank you.

Hi mountie
In answer to your question, I think omegaet and lhbrown in their recent posts on this board have provided very good ideas on how VIP contributors could function as "LL Editors". I fully agree with their view that since it's very likely impossible for LL staff to visit and review every property that's offered on LL, VIPs could very nicely fill-in by providing comments based on their own recent experiences while visiting a specific LL property. Since everyone has a personal bias, it would behove LL to make itclear (by means of a footnote or asterisk) that such commentaries by VIP Editors do not reflect the corporate views of LL but of a seasoned traveller who has just experienced a stay at the property in question. On this basis, I feel such an arrangement could work out very well.

Hi Mountie,
As explained by lhbrown below, if a VIP is already on location, and we could be of some help to visit a new property or look in on one...why not? LL would already save the price of an airline ticket, and to make it interesting for the lucky chosen one, perhaps LL would be able to supply a night or two at the location. I am sure that not all properties are visited in person by someone at LL.

I like your idea of LL supplying a night or two at a given property so that a VIP acting as a 'surrogate LL Editor' could really take a good look around to critically review the location and provide a commentary by way of a subsequent post on the LL Community. In this way, LL would save quite a bit of money by not having to send one of its own staff and the whole Community would benefit from the candid comments of the VIP Editor. Maybe when one of the VIPs has the winning bid on a LL auction or buys one of the "Buy Now" offerings, part of the package could be an extra night or two for free at the location provided the VIP agrees to take on the role of an LL Editor andsubmit a comprehensive post on the property on return. Whar do you think?

I think since the time I posted this thread, LL has come a long way. I'm thankful that they have given all the VIP's an opportunity through the VIP community section, to post our editorial remarks. I think that it might be fun when they have their next (VIP) drawing to send one of us on an all expense paid trip to a new property somewhere with the idea that we write our own full review on the resort (as we've been doing) with the hopes that we can really contribute to the community while giving LL some really great PR !

Yes, I do remember now when you first started this interesting thread because the idea intrigued me a lot. Quite a coincidence that omegaet was the winner of the recent VIP drawing of a $1500 Gift Certificate, as somehow I had thought he'd actually started this thread. Well, perhaps the LL Moderators will ask him to review whatever resort he chooses to use the certificate for and to write up one of his usual, thorough and factual posts to share with the rest of the LL Community.
