You can also get 40000 Miles for just opening one of three Citibank AAdvantage Credit cards with no annual fee for the first year.

O. I saw this when I was checking in. What a confusing deal. We were trying to check in at the kiosk and a screen popped up with the offer.......Little different. I didn't think it was worth it for the few points that your received.

Bonniejoy03, Omegaet,
It might help some people who are just a few miles short of a free ticket, but as a whole, I see it as the airline wheedling out a few more dollars from the traveler.

mountie,
It all depends on your spending habits. I easily charge $250 a months, counting gas, groceries, doctor/dentist visits, restaurants, internet purchases, etc. I use the card wherever I can use a charge card and it's amazing how fast the charges mount up. On the other hand I make darned sure I pay my cards on time and don't use them abroad where they charge 3.5% foreign exchange fees. So for some of us, it can be a mile booster.
