There's some good news for anyone planning an international arrival into MIA later this year (probably sometime after early September).
The new 'monster' Federal Inspection Service facility should be open for service and will be a huge improvement, especially for arrival from Central and South America.
This is one more important step toward improving one of my love/hate 'home airports.'
Notes:
- 78 lanes that will be able to process 2,000 passengers per hour
- six dedicated lanes for Global Entry
this would be nice since I will be arriving from CR in November through MIA and will be using my Global Entry for the 1st time! So far all my international entries back into the states have been via Houston - here's hoping global Entry and all the little things that the TSA says they will be doing to help travellers will come to fruition in many airports in the USA
Do you happen to know if this new facility will replace or be an addition to the old facility? It seems to me that Miami is busy enough to have more than one facility to process all of the incoming international passengers.Quote:

Just used my GE for Mexico return. I put the GE number in as "trusted traveler" and still got the SSSS designation in ATL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the reply. The cost of the Global Entry Card is $100 with the application. Is it worth it if you use it just twice a year? I guess it is only useful to enter the US or is it valid also for other countries?Quote:
