personal icons

Just been having a look at everyones personal icons. I certainly never chose mine(though I think it is fine), so just wondered how they decided on who gets which?Is everyone happy with theirs?

Hi mary-j! You pick your own icon. The one you have is the default if you don't choose another. After you select Community, click on "My Profile". Then you'll see an "Icons" tab. Many to choose from - enjoy!

Yes, it was fun trying to decide which one to choose. I will probably change it whenI get bored of it!

I was glad to see a Viking helmet as one of the icons available. I like it a lot.



As LL Community gets more and more members signing up, it'll get harder for the LL Admin. folks to come up with new and imaginative icons for people to choose from. My suggestion would be for LL to let participants up-load their own icon from other, outside sources. As long as thjese are not pornographic or racist, it would work well and help make the identifying icons for each member more personalized. If LL found any up-loaded icon not suitable for the site, they could just assign a standard icon to that person (as they do now if you don't pick one from their supply). What do you think?

We may soon be able to use pictures of ourselves as I see on other blog sites. I know in this day and age people love to remain anonymous on the internet but if I saw another LL member while on vacation we might not all feel like strangers.

Yes that would be a good idea to have our photo as our icon. It would be good to put faces to names too. Mind you, when you have an image of someone which you think they probably look like,usually it is completely way out. Off to find the camera!

Hi Mr. Vikinng,
I think the Viking helmet fits you to a T - especially with your background in the Scandinavian countries and your interest in the Viking Rune Stones you couldn't have found a better icon. That said, I like mine too, but I am not so sure that switching icons every few days as the mood strikes you adds a lot, if anything, it makes it more confusing.

I have seen pictures of individual contributors on the TripAdvisor. I guess it is up to the individual if they want to show themselves on the site. I wonder, if we found ourselves in the same city at the same time if we could send a private message including a photo to a contributor to possibly meet in person.... I feel, even though the Community Board is set up to protect the privacy of the individuals, we have learned quite a bit of the members in what they revealed so far and we are beginning to get a feel for each other... wouldn't mind being able to put a face to some of the names...
