Ms. Cox is a little dramatic in here article, but does a good job on some of the highlights:

The road has been discussed for years, now it appears the Peruvian government is actually moving forward - if built, the experience and the site will be forever changed:

The 1st time I went to Peru was during the month of April which is still the rainy season and trip to MP was cancelled due to mud slides - they had to resuce many tourists. The 2nd time to Peru was in June - weather was excellent but Peru rail was on strike for 1 day - luckily the strike was only for 1 day so we eventially made it to MP - always an adventrue to get to MP!

We have good friends leaving for an extended visit to Peru and Machu Picchu in a couple of weeks, so we bought them a copy of Turn Right at Machu Picchu (of course, I had to speed read several of the chapters before presenting it to them).
If you are planning a trip to Machu Picchu in the future, you might find this a enjoyable and informative read!

I may be jumping the gun, but I have a positive outlook about finally getting to Peru and MP.
I'm currently battling a serious bone infection that is "supposed" to be gone before I'm scheduled for heart surgery in December. One of those freak diseases that I may have gotten anywhere--it landed in my right thumb--try dealing with that being disabled if you're right handed! That little digit has a lot of power over human activity!
I have an incredible specialist who will be doing a robotic procedure, that will hopefully, have me up and traveling in early 2012. First stop, anywhere I can go with LL short package--I need a travel fix BIGTIME!! Next will be Bali to use the pkg I bought during last Thanksgiving Sale (please please, do that again!!) It's on suspension right now but Royal Pita Maha is calling me...
Then, once the heart valve is working tip top, I'm off to MP, to breathe easier and enjoy one of those spa treatments--ONE???ha!) O, I've saved your book referral and of course will tap all LL community members for my planning. Thanks for that tidbit.
Can't even say ta ta for now, while I'm pretty sedentary with IV's etc."wherever you go, there you are"

10-30-2011, 07:40 AMHey -O-, thanks for the book tip, I just placed an order on Amazon for a copy. I have finally reorganized my Peru travel plans and will be departing Miami December 4 for the trip. Jim Sanchez has really been a great help in assisting me with booking my new reservations at the three LL properties. American Airlines and Lan have been a little more difficult.

11-04-2011, 02:25 PMYep, I'm pretty pumped about my early December trip to Peru. Everyone at Luxury Link, especially Jim Sanchez, has really come through for me on my rescheduled adventure. Got to add that the folks at Orient-Express have done their part as well. Hope my copy of Turn Right At Machu Picchu arrives soon.

M....do you have "on demand" TV from Comcast? I noticed a TV show called "Around the World." They have an episode on Machu Picchu. Thought you might want to check prior to the trip.
