Picking dates after winning an auction- help please!
hello! So the auction ended this morning and I didn't make a bid. I'm so angry now. I'm a first time user and I didn't know once I clicked bid and if I won it do I have to enter dates right away or can I log back in in a few weeks and submit dates. I already did some home work and called the hotel and there is lots of availability. I just don't have dates in my head right now. Can someone please let me know for future reference if I bid and win, do I have to submit dates ASAP???.?.?.?
Thanks!

First dmeinhardt, Welcome to the Luxury Link Lounge!
Yes, you can take some time figuring out the logistics of your travel, flights, etc, before nailing down your dates. In fact this is one feature of LL that I love the best, compared to other travel sites. You can win an auction without having to commit to dates right away. Of course, the sooner you can nail down your dates, the better just in case the property gets other bookings made in the meantime.
You did exactly what I do - call the property first to check available dates before bidding. Then I often take some time to figure out the best dates for flights or other hotels. Many LL properties will come back up for auction, so keep checking, it may be back up in a day or two.

05-30-2012, 01:08 PMI had an issue recently where I checked ahead of time with the hotel but as it had taken them a few days to get back to me when I was ready to bid I made the mistake of only checking availability online. The hotel had a lot of availability online but when I went to book they said they didn't have availability for the Luxury Link package.
I tried three different dates but no luck. It shows that one needs to speak to the hotel directly not just check their availability online. I even offered to take a downgraded room but they were very inflexible. When I called the concierges and told them there was online availability they said they'd call the hotel and try to sort it out.
Sure enough their intervention helped and I have the dates I wanted! I appreciate their attention and the fact that they bothered to follow up in person with the hotel. It made all the difference.

tiber1,
Welcome to you also to the Lounge! I'm glad to hear that your situation worked out well for you. The Luxury Link concierges can be life savers!
I normally call the hotel and explain that I plan to bid on their LL package but need to check available dates before bidding. You're right - its best to call the hotel directly.
Would you like to share what package you won?
