Preview Auction
I hate to bring this up but I was so intrigued by the Villa Carioca offer--and there seems to be another question about the number of nights. Again, it's the 3? or 4? night package issue.
Please advise us as soon as possible! I'm sure we'd all like to see a correction very soon; maybe before the auction begins?
Thanks for your diligence."wherever you go, there you are"

Re: Preview Auction
well, I got my wish for a price on Budapest--OUCH!
$350 taxes in addition made it way over the top for eastern Europe.
Wonder what the Kempinski package will be? We stay there regularly and I will say that their spa, even though small, is quite nice."wherever you go, there you are"

Re: Preview Auction
Kyshel,
I was a little sad to see the price on this one, as I had just purchased a similar (but certainly not as loaded) package at the Andrassy Hotel for just a couple hundred less than the offering price - and the St. George definitely looks more interesting to me. However, that $350 fee charged at the end of the stay really puts me off! I think I would handle it better if it were included in the price of the package, but it seems like they have a lot of nerve to charge that much on top of the package price. What do you think that is about? I've never seen anything like it before....

Re: Preview Auction
I've seen similar taxes/fees to be collected at a property like a villa or similar (as in resort fees in Jamaica) They're usually based on the list value not purchase price, so it's not unheard of. That being said, it's obviously not SOP in Hungary, but I'm guessing it has to do more with concierge/driver/tickets fees? I don't like the VAT after the fact--I think that puts the package price in a whole new realm.

Re: Preview Auction
OH NO!! I just went back to see the Villa Carioca offer--wanted to ck terms etc, before considering bidding and I found:
http://www.luxurylink.com/auctions/a....php?id=199521
"Additional package restrictions
Rates above are quoted in U.S. dollars and are for four people sharing two guest rooms. Price does not include airfare or customary gratuities. Retail value listed does not necessarily reflect promotional, internet/online or other discount rates which may be displayed on the hotel's own website but are restricted for use in packaging.
Price does not include handling fee of $30."
I'd be certain it's cut/paste error from a different auction, but this is not good.
I wonder if LL needs a copy editor?
