Question for LL Moderators on promotional posts
Hi LL Moderators,
Unfortunately, there have been a few posts that are actually ads and promotions. Is there a way to report this to you? I've seen other sites that have a "report this post" feature. Maybe that's not necessary, but it would be nice to have a way to let you know so that these items can be removed. There's one out there buried in a thread, so it's not easy to spot if you're monitoring these boards.
Thanks!

Re: Question for LL Moderators on promotional posts
Hey Disneygal,
I agree with your request. Unfortunately with blogs, advertisements will always happen. With that said, I use Craig's List frequently, and they have a feature that the community members can flag the post to the moderators and the moderators will remove it immediately. Maybe LL has some sort of way for use to flag bad posts.

Re: Question for LL Moderators on promotional posts
Hi E, hi D,
I checked and LL under its help pages has no provision for flagging bad posts. Where did you see these advertisings/promotions, on posts or on blogs? I have come across only on one posts where a LL Moderator removed bad language on one post... Would be interested to see what bad advertisings/promotions you refer to. Agree, LL should institute such a flagging feature....

Re: Question for LL Moderators on promotional posts
Hi L and 7,
I'm referring to just the kind of feature 7 mentions, where you can flag a post to the moderators. Right now there's a questionable response to my Skiing Destinations?post under Favorite Travel Styles... Country. Someone responded and included a link totheir own website selling luxurytravel. I've also seen this same individual respond elsewhere on this board advertising their ownsite. I noticed at least one other post that was purely advertisinghas since beenremoved.

Re: Question for LL Moderators on promotional posts
Hi L and D,
I've seen a few of these promo posts so far, but when I went back to see if they were still there, they had been removed so it looks like LL is aware of the problem and has taken action. We can definitely make it easier for them in the future, if there was a way to flag a bad post.

Hi disneygal,
I tried to look at the sites you mentioned but could not actually find anything, so I guess E is right, LL must have removed the posts, either on your alert, or on their own.

Re: Question for LL Moderators on promotional posts
hi dg
Flagrant promotions for specific resorts/properties seem to crop up relatively seldom. Like lhbrown/travelfan, I've only seen a couple in the past month or so since I joined Ll Community.
One that stood out was dated Jan.4, 2007 about ski locations (and actually a reply to your request for information) posted by "alodgeforyou". It basically contained hyperlinks to the websites of about a dozen different resorts mainly in Switzerland and a couple in France. At the end of the post, the sender even went so far as to guide you to the website [name deleted by LL]which is in Switzerland!!! I would have reported this one, had there been such a feature at LL Community. Instead I replied to the post directly and pointed out that it seemed to be a case of crass commercialism and highlighted that part of my post so hopefullyn the LL Moderators would take note. Don't know what happened.

Re: Question for LL Moderators on promotional posts
Hi Curt,
That's exactly the post that concerns me. The website [name deleted by LL] belongs to the poster. She is selling luxury travel. I think there was another post just to promote this website, which was removed. But when it's buried
in a response to another post, I think we need a way to report it.
I did see your response, and the lack of action taken. That's what prompted me to ask the question. Too bad we haven't had a response from LL moderators. Hope we will!

Re: Question for LL Moderators on promotional posts
hi disneygal
I think whoever's behind the website is an impostor, not really a bona fide LL Community contributor. As such, you're quite right, the whole shoddy attempt at sneaking commercial advertising for resort properties needs to be exposed and dealt with. Hope LL Moderators take action on this.

Re: Question for LL Moderators on promotional posts
Hello community - in one of the other posts it was noted that a community member wanted to purchase a package to "resell" for fundraising - great idea in this instanceThis makes me wonder if travel"brokers" are bidding on properties and reselling them? It crossed my mind before now I wonder are there provisions against this? Do properties know the identity of purchasers or could I by a package for example and give it as a gift?LL Moderator?
