    Smile Seen an A380 yet?

I happened to be looking at one of the web cams at LAX this morning (OK...I like airplanes and watch this web cam from time to time) and I noticed QF12 LAX-SYD ( little late on departure....but even with the seven second refresh on the cam it was neat to see the big A380 rise up toward the Pacific).

Check out the link, if you like airplanes....

I check this webcam from time to time just to see if one of those A380s is smacking into the tail of a regional jet here and there.

    Nothing yet.

I have seen Lufthansa’s first Airbus A380 land at the Franz Josef Strauss airport in Munich, Germany. It looked very big and heavy. We have also seen many of the earlier test flights right from our balcony when we lived in Paris. It was quite a spectacle to see the A380 fly over the Sacre Coeur.

LL_Travelfan....Lufthansa is introducing their A380 service to MIA Friday, June 10th. We tried, without success to secure a VIP invitation to the reception being held at the airport for the flight arrival.

Almost, but of course, almost only counts in horseshoes!

We are still investigating using some frequently flyer miles from another program to nail down a couple of Biz Class seats on the LH A380 for a connecting flight further east next year.

Do you like flying Lufthansa? We haven't been aboard a Lufthansa flight in several years. Our neighbor, who uses them frequently to Frankfurt, says "they offer the most ruthlessly efficient flight service available today"....he never elaborates, but continues to fly with them.

    Hi O,

Good to know LH is introducing A380 service to MIA on June 10th. Too bad you missed out on their VIP invitation to the reception being held at the MIA airport for the flight arrival. I am sure that would have been a nice deal. I will have to investigate their ff requirements for the A380 on the MIA - MUC route. I imagine it will be quite high.... and since my ff miles are mostly with United, there is probably little chance to be able to use them on LH, especially on the A380...

We fly Lufthansa mostly between MUC and CDG and CDG to MUC. Their service is good, but they are quite strict. Since AA does not fly into MUC, we wind up buying separate tickets CDG to MUC at their special InterEurope rate of 99 Euro R/T. AA arrived late at CDG and we missed our LH connection at CDG to MUC last March and they wanted us buy a new ticket CDG to MUC to the tune of 600+ Euros a piece, till I insisted to speak to a supervisor, who allowed us to rebook our missed flight for the 50 Euro change fee per person.

I am somewhat unhappy with LH at the moment. We were booked at the 11:05 AM flight CDG to MUC for our return flight from the States this coming August. LH changed the the flight from 11:05 to 13:50 PM, which adds an additional 3 hours to our connect time at CDG after arriving at 6:45 AM on AA at CDG. Does LH give us any compensation for changing the flight which was booked 6 months ago? of course not..... Using the AA/LL combination to MUC is certainly not as easy as what we had when we lived in Paris and just used AA to Paris.

sadly, there will be many schedule changes over the next few months due to oil prices [for every major carrier]. They've all had to cut/trim/adjust frequencies and I doubt it will get better in the hear future. LH is within acceptable time frame for no compensation. Airlines can't afford to lose customers but they can't afford to lose money! Catch 22.
    So much has changed...<sigh>

You are probably right about things to come. Wasn't aware that there was such a thing as "acceptable time frame" for schedule changes. You are right about the Catch 22, I just don't like it when it happens to me....

The first LH A380 finally arrived and departed MIA with much fanfare and positive outlook for future pax loads. MIA has already committed substantial money to improving additional terminal facilities and is in the processing of working out details with BA, AF and VS to encourage their use of their A380s scheduled for delivery through 2015. Looks like MIA will continue to grow as a major gateway from Europe into Latin America.

Just gotta fly on one of these A380s (at least in Biz)!
