Separate destination boards for Africa, Asia etc now a reality!

Hello,

Just wanted to let people know that the request for more geographical breakdown in the Destinations boards has been answered -- there are now separate boards for Africa, Asia, etc. It looks like the moderators have not gotten around to moving all of the current threads in the Worldwide board (and the general travel board) to their appropriate geographical boards but that will hopefully come soon!

I have made the inaugural postings on the Asia and Aus/NZ boards, but no one has responded. I think it will take some time for people to get used to the seperate regional boards. But once they do, it will be a big time saver to be able to go right to your area/region of interest to post questions and share information.

These boards are a great idea, but the current format is tough - we will have to click on each board separately to find out if there are any new messages every time we visit. There needs to be a way to get a good overview of what's new throughout the entire message board, maybe a better "Community Main Page" listing every sub-topic and number of unread posts....

Adding the Destination boards to the main community page is a great idea -- I think that a lot more people would be able to find them. Right now a lot of destination-specific questions end up in the general travel board because the destination boards are buried one layer down.

I like being able to look at the main community page and seeing how many new posts have been added since the last time I visited, and adding that function to the destination boards is a great idea as well.

Wonderful news! I too believe that the LL Community is vastly improved as a result of these organizational changes to the Message Boards. I fell that more such changes are needed in order to make message browsing quicker and easier. For eample, while it's great to have separate boards for Africa and Asia, it would be even better if each of these boards was further subdivided by country. So, if you wish to contribute a new post on Egypt, Morocco, Thailand, Saudi Arabia or China, there'd be a separate sub-board for each country.

Curtiejoe, although I like the idea of organizing the boards to the nth degree in theory, in reality there are now just too many boards! Maybe if they were organized to very easily see where new messages have been posted, it wouldn't be a problem. Ever since the "destination" boards have been broken down into 12 or something various boards, I really haven't visited there as often. There's no way to know what's new and what's old without clicking on each and every board separately, and after doing that a few times to find there was nothing new, I gave up! It's actually quite frustrating to me. If the boards were further broken down into country, it would only compound the problem. Not to mention, I just don't think this community is large enough yet to sustain such focus quite yet. Maybe in several months, when the community has grown significantly.

Moderators, I appreciate your organizing the boards further and adding more specific destination and style boards, but please give us a way to get a good general overview of what's new all over the Luxury Link Community, not just on the mainpages!

While I agree with you that there are way too many boards currently on the LL Community, I do feel that the way around it is better organization accompanied by some way for the LL Moderators to flag the fact that there are 'new' postings within particular boards. Maybe they could underline such boards with a specific colour or add a star or asterisk that flashes red (until you go in and read those 'new' posts).

I think that adding something similar to what you get with the individual threads (bold if there are new messages you haven't read, with an indication of how many new posts there are) would work well for the boards as well. That way when you went to the Destinations page, you could tell at a glance which boards have had some activity since the last time you visited.

Breaking things down by country seems a bit too detailed -- the TripAdvisor boards can a bit problematic in thaat there are boards for every country, and some of them rarely get any posts whereas others are much more lively. I think the current breakdown is fine for now while the community is young.
