Re: TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHTS
Hi Curt,
Rather waiting for RyanAir to cross the Atlantic, Zoom Airways just announced some deal that might be of interest to you. They are starting daily flights from Ontario to JFK and from JFK to London for $199.00 one way. No Roundtrip requirement or Saturday night stay. The one-way deal sounds interesting, as we ofthen thought about taking the boat back to the US.

Re: TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHTS
Hi L travelfan
Great news! Hadn't heard about Zoom's new routes and low fares to London from this side of the Atlantic. Zoom's a subsidiary of Air Canada and has been offering cheaper flights throughout Canada and into the USA for a couple years now. Yet, their 'lower' fares can't really compete with those of Spirit Airlines which offers many flights for $8 plus minimal tax from Detroit to lots of destinations in the USA, the Caribbean and even to Lima, Peru!!! Thanx for your wonderful info, which I'll take advantage of on our next flight to Europe. Of course, once one lands in London, the who;e wide world of ultra-cheap flights throughout Europe opens up like magic!

Re: TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHTS
Hi Curt,
Zoom just opened up this new route as of June 21st but I thought of you when I read about it.
Sounds like I ought to be looking into Spirit Airlines for some trips south and to the Islands... Is Spirit flying out of Detroit only? Anyway, I will check it out.

Re: TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHTS
Hi L travelfan
I appreciate you thinking of me and Zoom. Detroit's a major hub for Spirit but it also flies into NYC/Laguardia, Boston, Atlantic City, Myrtle Beach, Atlanta, Chicago, Orlando, Tampa, Ft. Myers, West Palm Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, San Francisco, Las Vegas and L.A. in the USA, as well as a whole lot of islands in the Caribbean and as far south as Lima, Peru. Check the Route Maps link on the Spirit website.

Re: TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHTS
Hi L travelfan
I'm hoping that Spirit Airlines is a trendsetter for North American air travel. Though it's still far from being a Ryan Airways, it seems to bode well for deep discount flights across the USA, Canada, Mexico and destinations in the Caribbean and in South America. In my view, I'd rather spend my hard-earned dollars on really fine luxury accommodations, superb food, fabulous local entertainment, and exotic excursions than on sitting in a plane for hours to get to those wonderful delights. With the recent announcement by Ryan that they'll soon start dirt-cheap trans-Atlantic flights, it seems inevitable that they will also expand into the North American market at some future date. The sooner the better as far as I'm concerned.
