Traveler's Health Advice
The Frugal Traveler is one of my favorite columns in the NYT......and just in case you missed it, there are some good pointers mentioned in the 25 August column:

Good article. I always carry Benadryl. It is great for allergic reactions, bug inflammations, and even some types of colds. Cordisone is great for bug bites and itches which we seem to encounter when travelling in Central America and the Caribbean.

Excellent ideas in this article. However, what's with the Simply Saline? Anyone in the community actually squirt salt water up their nose during long flights?

t-2-f.glad kyshel owned up to using saline up her nose!
Saline spray has been a travelfavorite for years....these days we have beenusers of Ayr Saline Nasal Gel http://www.bfascher.com/ayr/ayrsalinenasalgel.html and keep a tube in our travel kits and I also keep another in my attach case whenever I need to fly. Living in a very humid environment, transitions to places with alack of humidity (such as a aircraft cabin) for several hours isrough onmucus membranes. The saline gel form is simply to apply (or insert depending on you method of use)......and it really does work..at least for us.
We also use it during "cold" and "flu" seasons when traveling in close and confined quarters. Does it really make a "medicaldifference".......we think so!
Why not give it a try?- Ω -

Guess I should out myself and admit that I also use Simply Saline when I fly. I think it works. Of course, I am one of those individuals who also uses Zicam during cold and fue season.

I get more than my share of salt water up my nose and in my eyes working around and under my boat in Key Largo.

Hi Mountie,
H1N1 vacines seem to be plentyful in Florida these days. We saw a several Walgreen billboard ads for the vacine which really made us laugh. They were advertising "HINI flu shuts available", and my husband read it facetiously as "Hin(d)i Shots" --- well, do they give the shot into the hin(d)i??? Thought that should make you smile....

.....this is a great resource to research before a trip, at least an extended trip and especially if you are considering a substantial altitude differential
