Just in time for Halloween, we read the following (btw Jim Sanchez has requested a suite on the 14th floor for our use):
The Homestead, Hot Springs, VA
The Homestead was built in 1766, and is one of the oldest resorts in America. With all this history, perhaps it’s no surprise the hotel is the scene of many mysterious happenings, the most notable of on the 14th floor located in the resort’s oldest wing. It’s so spooky, in fact, that housekeepers refuse to work on the floor. One who did work on that floor, however, was sweeping the corridor when a lady dressed in 18th century clothing approached him from down the hall to ask for the time. He answered and she thanked him continuing on her way.
He later mentioned the encounter to his supervisor, who seemed alarmed and explained that other staff members had reported similar incidents. Legend has it that in the early 1900s, a woman was set to be married at The Homestead. On the day of her wedding, her husband-to-be, nervous and having second thoughts, told her to stay in their room while ran out for a moment. Her groom left the hotel never to return again. The story goes that the bride became so distraught she took her own life. Now, her spirit roams the 14th floor of the resort asking guests and staff for the time, still waiting for her groom to arrive.
