VIP Contributor Status Rules to be Revisited by LL
Hi - This is a question for LL Moderators/Management:
What happens when you loose your VIP Contributor Status for a quarter? The color designation does not seem to change as far as I can tell. Are you still able to contribute to VIP Contributor Blogs? Are you still invited to the VIP Event if you are not a VIP Contributor during the quarter that the VIP Event takes place? Are you still entered into the $1500 prize drawing for VIP Contributors if you miss a quarter or are not a VIP Contributor in the quarter that the drawing takes place????
LL Moderators could you please expand on this. I know this is still new to this Community board, but maybe the rules should be laid down at this point to avoid future confusions and disappointments.

Dear lhbrown and allCommunity Members,
Once a Community Member receives VIP status that title is not taken away fromthem. However, if they are not up to VIP standards by the end of the quarterthen they will not be eligible for the quarterly gift certificates.
Thank you,
LL

LL_Moderator_ks, I don't know who or how the standards are determined and I don't think it is the responsibility of luxury link to disclose how those standards are determined. I am happy I finally received the status and am looking forward to using my certificate in the near future. If I am fortunate enough to qualify next quarter, I will be equally as pleased. Thank you.LL_Moderator_ks wrote:

Mountie, we need to enjoy our VIP Contributor status while we have it! Where are you thinking about going?

Hi LL_Moderator_ks,
Thank you for your reply. However, you didn't fully answer my question. OK we remain a VIP Contributor and our color designation does not change. We just won't get the $500 gift certificate. However, are we still able to contribute to VIP Contributor Blogs? Are we still invited to the VIP Event if you are not a VIP Contributor during the quarter that the VIP Event takes place? Are we still entered into the $1500 prize drawing for VIP Contributors if we miss a quarter or are not a VIP Contributor in the quarter that the drawing takes place????

Hi travelfan
I'm surprised and a bit disappointed that the LL Moderators did not fully reply to your recent questions regarding the status of VIP Contributors. As one myself, I'm very interested in learning what actually would happen if a VIP fails to keep up to LL's expected, yet unspecified, standards of contribution during any given quarter. As things stand, it seems that decisions regarding the continued status of current VIP Contributors lies entireliy at the discretion of the LL Moderators. Though this is entirely appropraite since the Moderators are in charge of the website, I feel like you that it is only fair to all of the Contributors to the Community to receive clarification about what the loss of VIP status involves and what exactly a VIP needs to do to maintain her/his status from quarter to quarter. Let's hope we get more information from the LL Moderators soon.

Hi Curt & L
You are both right with your arguments, and thank you Liane for bringing these delicate topics to the forum. Somehow everything is vague, we don't know very much. I for one would love to hear more comments from our moderators. Sometimes we ask the same question over and over again, and feel like no one is listening. This seems to be an important topic that concerns all the present and future VIP's, and it would be great if we could we get a clear response to the other questions asked. It would also be good to know how the $1500.00 prize is won? Is the name pulled out of a hat? Is it awarded to the person that contributes the most? I'm just curious.

Re: VIP Contributor Status Rules to be Revisited by LL
Well, I guess this a perfect example of the need for a board specifically for questions to the moderators. Regarding the topic at hand, I gathered from the moderator's response that "VIP status" would not be taken away once granted. I had been wondering if there would be a special icon for "former VIPs", but it seems this will not be needed! From the moderator response, my understanding is that all other benefits of VIP status, such as an invitation to "the event" (if that ever happens) would remain. But, good point about the $1500.00 prize - how that will work remains a mystery!

Hi two2go
Yes, I too feel the same sense of frustration when it seems that numerous suggestions, questions, and comments by VIP Contributors and other LL Community members directed to the LL Moderators/Administrators go unanswered. I am sure, as others have pointed out, that the staff at LL are very busy people who have many different tasks to deal with (e;g; the re-organization of many of the Community Boards). As such, no doubt they have to priorize competing issues and subjects but again one would think that input received from Communiy members, and VIP Contributors in particular, might be seen as of a relatively high priority and dealt with accordingly. Hopefully, discussions such as this we're having now, will be noticed and appropriate attention given by LL staff.
The old adage "the squeaky wheel receives the most attention" is a good one, but I personally avoid telephoning LL staff to express my views on these sorts of matters. I know some members don't share this view and are in a habit of calling LL quite regularly. But, to me this actually has a detrimental effect as it takes away from the time LL staff has in any given day to deal with the broader concerns of the wider LL Community.
The $1500 travel certificate: its awarding remains a mystery and I too am quite curious how LL staff decide on it. Clarity and transparance are very important elements on a website such as this. Even if the way the prize is awarded is by pulling ity out of a hat, it would be good if LL just came out and said so. As it is, we're all guessing and more frustrated.

Hi disneygal
Good for you! A distinct Board for questions directed at the LL Community Moderators/Editors is a much-needed feature. It would act as a special 'funnel' straight to the "horse's mouth" and would serve as a very effective avenue for all LL Community members, including VIP Contributors, to bring their ideas, suggestions, and questions directly to the attention of LL staff. In this way, the questions and issues we are now all airingregarding the continued status of VIPs could surely be addressed more swiftly and effectively. For exmple, we might learn about the fate of the oft-mentionned VIP gathering at the Pierre Hotel in New York (is it still going to happen? when? how?); the status of VIP Contributors if for some reason they don't meet LL's quarterly eligibility criteria; the awarding of the $1500 VIP travel prize; and other issues of concern.
