I joined LL in 2005 (under a different email address) and I don't remember ever seeing an event listed. Also I was not a VIP contributor at the time - it was never really publicized that you could be one back in those days that I recall. I don't even see my older posts and stories listed anymore so I guess when I re joined LL under a new address it was never combined with my old information

Mountie,
I know you are right, there was a LL VIP Event in Los Angeles, and there were pictures in the 2006 Fall/Winter??? Newsletter on the web. But that was, as you correctly state, for some travel trade people, various other media representatives, key management personnel from Luxury Link and some customers who had purchased and made trips. However, this was before LL created the LL Community. Back in the early days of the LL Community (Fall/Winter of 2006, I believe), LL stated that all VIP Members in good standing would be invited to these LL VIP Event. The talk at the time was about holding the next VIP Event at the Pierre Hotel in NYC. However, I talked to Nancy Taylor about it at the time and she said they had difficulties scheduling it, and eventually, the idea of a VIP Event at the Pierre was dropped.
Bonniejoy03, you are right, there was a lot of talk from the members of the Community about holding the next VIP Event at the Necker Island, but LL, to my knowledge, never subscribed to that idea. There were other locations floated by the members, but nothing concrete ever was announced by LL.
Mountie, I think your $500 VIP Certificate must be long expired by now, I guess it is good for framing.

Denise,
You might check under your old LL name. Your posts should still be there. Unfortunately, LL under the old platform had no way of combining two contributor names. However, I don't think the LL Community was alive in 2005. I think the LL Community was created in the Fall of 2006 and the first VIP Contributor certificates were handed out in Jan. 2007. The first recognized VIP contributors in Jan. of 2007 were Bonniejoy03, Enewseven, Curtiejoe, lhbrown, Omegaet, Mary-j and Disneygal.

08-17-2010, 11:13 AMThere were some LL sponsored VIP events, like a fashion preview at SAKS in NYC, etc., but these were different from the actual LL VIP Event. These invitations to Saks, etc. came as hardcover invitations in the mail, as far as I remember. I seem to remember having gotten two such invitations.

Mountie,
I went back to the beginning of this post, and since you were lamenting Juno's or Nancy's absence here is an excerpt from Juno's post #19 on this thread concerning the VIP Event.
"As for the VIP event and the VIP blog -- at this point in time I do not want to restrict access to the VIP blog as I am quite impressed by those posts and I do not want to limit them at this point.
As you all know, we are trying to expand the blog posts and are willing to
create a blog
in any category that you would like us to.
The VIP event has been tricky for us.
We have been working
on a number of venues and locations, but we have not found a viable
solution to date.
We are still working on this
- and are very excited by your enthusiasm, but there are many details for us to still work out and we appreciate you patience."
PS: Juno Hart was the Managing Editor at the time.

I could have sworn I joined LL in 2005 but maybe it was in 2006. I know my 1st LL winning auction was to Blancaneaux Lodge in Belize - I will have to go look through my old records to find the exact time frame.
