03-15-2010, 06:23 AMWhat is with these "hacker" posts in different threads?
What is with these posts I would term hackers as they really have nothing to do with the LL site or travel? Can they be removed? Right now there are two under Mystery Auctions and there is nothing about the new USA Mystery Auction or the Italy Mystery Auction. There are also some under Asia and some of the other Destination threads. I know that I don't have to click on them but I just hate when I see things like this.

Betsyv,
These are spam posts. People that own these sites post links to them around the net. The more visits to their sites, the more their advertisers pay (paid per site view). I have resorted to sending the LL spam links to Michael Choe so he can get them removed.
I did post a suggestion to LL that they add a "remove" button in the community postings that the members could use to flaginappropriate postings, making it easy for LL staff to keep the community cleaned up. Nothing seen so far, but it would be an easy fix for all of us.

Thanks Shygirl! The remove button sounds great! I just don't remember seeing so many of these in past years as I do lately. Hopefully LL-Michael will get your email soon and get rid of them.

betsyv - Agreed, they are very annoying. We believethe spammers area resultofa recent increase intraffic to the site. We're working on having either an automated spam-catcher or somethingalong the lines ofwhat shygirl724 suggested implemented into the Community.
For now, my apologies for the annoyance. I'll try to catch 'em as fast as I can!
Thanks,
Katie

katie, the spammers are working overtime and hitting our community board almost daily. The quicker we get a solution, the better for everyone.

Michael Choe from LL has posted a request today that if we see spam posts, please send the information to Katie (LL_Moderator_ks).
