world's best
I have just clicked on to "World's Best" to see which properties qualified for such a title and wondered how did Luxury Link chose these properties as the best in the world. Are these properties past or present properties of which L.L. has featured? It is just that the Burj Al Arab was one of them. Has L.L. featured this hotel in the past as it is not one they are featuring now?

Re: world's best
Hi Mary-j,
Here is LL's criteria for their selection:
"We're pleased to announce the winners of our 2006 World's Best Awards!
Luxury Links blue ribbon panel of discerning travel editors has selected just 50 properties throughout the world to receive the prestigious designation of a Worlds Best Hotel 2006. Our methodology of selection is based on our editors determination of service, facilities, location, uniqueness of property, and overall levels of luxury evaluated in conjunction with the opinions of our users." It also states "click on the properties to view present offers". This means, that some of these properties have current offers on LL. I don't know what "LL's blue ribbon panel of discerningtravel editor means". Would be interesting question for LL Moderator to shed more light on this.

Re: world's best
Hopefully in the future, we can all participate in feedback that will eventually be used to make the World's Best list. I think thatwould be useful to the LL Editors and it would be fun for all of us in the LL Community.

Re: world's best
Hi Enewseven,
As I stated before, I don't know what "LL's blue ribbon panel of discerning travel editor" means or who they are. Would be quite interesting to find out more about that group. As you said before "sign me up for that job" I am definitely interested. LL Moderators/Editors take note!!! In a few days we should find out who made "VIP Contributor" and what that distinction brings with it, and what our new Community board will look like as well as new LL features. But maybe we shouldn't get our hopes up too much.... after all, Rome wasn't built in one day..... There will be some improvements, but will we agree with them and will we like them; well, we will see.....

Re: world's best
Hi LBrown,
I hope that we will at least have some part maybe a vote or something like that for input into who make the Worlds Best list. I've always found it helpful to hear from other travelers on their experiences. Sometimes I read reviews that are published in national magazines and say to myself "was I at the same resort as the one they're talking about?" I too am looking forward to all the new changes and info LL will bring us in 2007!

Re: world's best
Hello,
Maybe it could be like Conde Nast -- they have an editor's choice Gold List and a Reader's Choice Gold List. The editors obviously get around more so they often have a better basis for comparing different places, whereas the readers are probably more like us in terms of what they look for in a place to stay.
Cheers,
Julian

Re: world's best
Hi jashermd,
Excellent post, hope LL Moderators will take note of this suggestion. It would be nice to have a LL Contributors' Gold Choice. Also, LL Moderators could you please enlighten us what criteria/standards the LL Blue Panel is using to make their choices???

Re: world's best
Hi Mary-J,
Ah yes, as they say there are three kinds of lies -- lies, damned lies, and statistics. The only meangingful statistic is one where you understand the criteria used to create it.
Yes, a contributors' Gold List would be great!
Cheers,
Julian
