Hi everyone,
I am going to Mustique for my honeymoon in the summer and my wife and i will need to transfer from Mustique to Canouan. The agent is quoting $450 to charter a plane for the 10min crossing but this seems a huge amount of money for the short distance. Does anyone know of a cheaper way of getting accross, we are flexible on the time of travel and we don't mind getting a boat?
Thanks,
Dunc82

Re: Mustique to Canouan transfer
Hi dunc82. I don't think there's a scheduled flight from Mustique to Canouan, as you say. But you could do two short flights: from Mustique to St. Vincent and then St. Vincent to Canouan. Although it will take abit more time, I think the total cost will be considerably less. Check out http://www.svgair.com. I found that SVG Air and Air Mustique both share flights, so you can go with either one that has a schedule that works. Also, my lesson learned, best to book directly with the airline. Mustique and the Grenadines are beautiful - you'll have a wonderful time!

Re: Mustique to Canouan transfer
Yes, you are right that it should be a quick transfer between the two islands, but $450 does sound in the ballpark for a private charter. I could not find any info on ferries between the two islands directly (although you could go Can- St.Vincent- Mustique, it would be a lot of backtracking and the schedules might not coordinate). http://www.scubasvg.com/travel/ferryschedules.html
I might suggest that you look on the links on the following page http://www.bequia.net/traveltour.htmfor arranging a boat charter. A great day would be to be picked up in Canouan in the AM, visit the Tobago Cays (possibly the single most gorgeous place in the entire Caribbean), and then got dropped off in Mustique in the afternoon. The restored schooner Friendship Rose www.FriendshipRose.comI know does these kinds of trips between Bequia and Mustique, but perhaps email them to see if they could arrange to pick you up in Canouan.
Good luck with your plans.
