Re: Peter Island Resort
Hi Tr8dr...LOVED IT! I spent my 40th birthday there. We had the standard rooms(not beach front.) Quite nice but just normal. Don't really need a lot of "room" here due to all of the activitites. Food was included in your price. The food was wonderful. PLUS..without taking advantage of the staff, etc, if you got hungry just say at 3pm, they would make you a snack such as pizza, etc. Its a smaller property so you will not have a lot of people. The activities were great...tennis courts, free non-motorized water sports, etc. They will also take you by jeep to a more deserted beach with a picnic lunch to an enjoy a nice afternoon alone. I really love the property! I'd love to help if you have any more questions.

Thanks for your reply. When did your visit take place? I've heard the oceanview rooms are average, the bathrooms in particular needing a little work, as well as the bottom floor being more desirable than the top, any comments on these things? If the beaches and the island are as pretty as I've heard it is then average rooms won't matter much. Have you been to Caneel Bay in St. John's? We really liked the feel of that resort, the multiple beaches make it feel like it isn't very crowded and they are beautiful beaches as well, hopefully Peter Island will be similar. Did you have any problems with bugs or anything when you went? We'll be going at the end of May. Are there any particular excursions you'd recommend on Tortola or Virgin Gorda or any of the surrounding islands like Jost Van Dyke etc. How was the food and the service, we hope there is enough menu variety as you're sort of a captive audience on the island as far as dining is concerned.
Thanks

Re: Peter Island Resort
Hi. We visited in 2002. Yes, the oceanview rooms are average however, we were there to enjoy the outside so didn't need anything "luxurious". We stayed on the top floor. It is like a chalet, so the rooms MIGHT be a hair smaller on top vs. bottom. We liked the idea of a balcony vs. ground level. Never have been to Caneel but go to Anguilla twice a year and Virgin Gorda once a year if that helps so not sure how it will compare? No problem with bugs but it is always best to bring some bug protection such as Skintastic and Avon Skin so Soft. If it rains, you will definitely see skeeters (almost anywhere in the Caribbean.). For excursions, do visit the Baths on Virgin Gorda. Peter Island has a (I believe) twice weekly visit to them. We fell in love with Virgin Gorda from this trip that is why we just go there now! Be cautious with Tortola and try to avoid a visit when the cruise ships come in. It will be TOOOO congested. Peter Island has a connection between PI and Tortola. They will know the cruise ship schedule. There are great sailing trips also to the other BVI's such as Jost Van Dyke and lovely Anegada. Peter Island can arrange. PI food was fantastic for us and a nice variety. We are not picky eaters though. Hope this helps. PI is a great place and May will be the best time to visit!!!

Iwould definitely recommend PI. I was actually married there in 2003. The island is beautiful, the food is wonderfuland you have the luxury of relaxing on the beach with few people around or taking day trips to other islands.
We stayed in a Oceanview room (bottom level) and it was nice but average. The bathrooms were disappointing.Next time we return we will stayin the beachfront rooms.
It's a beautiful island and the staff is extremely courteous.

You can also try tripadvisor.com for current reviews. We're seriously looking at PIR this year, but haven't yet decided.

Hi Mikey. If you are interested, Peter Island is up for bid on LL. The price looks great. (don't forget to add in the taxes though!) It is definetly worth the money. We stay in the British Virgin Islands annually and enjoy the laid back lifestyle. Peter Island is nice because there is so much to do , or nothing at all.

Thanks, bonnie...have you stayed there recently?...there are a few recent reviews that make me shudder (i.e., roach problems at the resort...power generator noise...housekeeping...we travel to the Caribbean each year and fullycomprehend the laid back concept"island time," but issues like roaches, noise pollution, and poor housekeeping are "biggies" that can overshadow an otherwise great time.
We're looking to go in the mid-May to mid-June timeframe.

This place is great especially the beachfront rooms. The SPA as well. Have a landscape at the bar for me.
