Re: Provo, Turks & Caicos
Hi Disneygal: We have only rented a car for a day or two. There is so much to see right on the main beach and there are restaurants within walking distance. We had the car to go to the grocery store and tour the island. Years ago, we played golf there also. I can agree with you on the high prices at restaurants. Both Ocean Club properties have their own smaller restaurant. It is casual and convenient. We enjoyed cooking in some nights and definitely making breakfast in. Hope this helps.
Re: Provo, Turks & Caicos
Hi bonniejoy03 - thanks for the info! I would like to make another trip to Provo, so this is very helpful.
Re: Provo, Turks & Caicos
hi disneygal
If you decide on one of the Ocean Club properties on Provo for your next trip down to T & C, I know you'll love it.

Re: Provo, Turks & Caicos
Hi all Disneygal wants a hotel reccommendation& Enewseven is thinking of Amanyara...
We went to Provo last May. Wehad lunch at Amanyara and truthfully it was extremely quiet and stuffy we felt likewe were in a state of meditation Oahhhhmmmmmm It is veryfar from the beach although it does have great views The eternity pool and shower spots all are tiled in black slate - very hot in the Carribean The wait staff is at your call but to the point of being ridiculous - a staff member awaits with your open towel as you emerge from the pool,,, way over the top in my opinion. Everyone was whispering in the dining room - yes it is that meditative an atmosphere. The food was small portions an very overpriced$8 for a beer $13 for a glass of wine shrimp fried rice came in a small bowl with one shrimp on top $11 Yikes its difficult to unwind for us in that atmosphere even with the meditativestate of guests and staff.
I'd like to suggest Ocean Club West - Privately owned villas operated as a resort. Ocean Club includes amenities at both Ocean Club East and OC West with a complimentary shuttle service. The shuttle is also convenient for walking to various locations around Provo - saving the cost of a car. You'll need a car probably two days to see the entire island - the OC shuttle will drop you off at car rental location...very accommodating! The beach is BEAUTIFUL as Curt mentioned, OC West is among the last ofa string of hotels - allowing more private walks on the beach or longer walks past other beachfront properties.OC West has a boat rental service right on its beach - great time exploring the out islands on your own skiff, wonderful shelling and Iguana island - much better than the "romancetours" some guide shops offer that drop you off at a secluded island - too hot - as Curt said there are very few palm trees here for shade - your own boat allows for the breeze and your own timetablePRICELESS yet actually very reasonable I believe it was $70 per day if memory serves me??? OC West Oceanview suites have full kitchens and porches - very nice!!! 2 pools and only feet from the ocean! Restaurants in both locations were good - a convenience store is located on the property, dive shop, boat rental as mentioned - fabulous!!! write me if more info is needed I can not say enough about Ocean Club...funtimes
Re: Provo, Turks & Caicos
Having just stumbled upon this thread raving about Turks and Caicos yesterday, I just picked up a copy of the Chicago Tribune today and the main Travel section story is about T & C, specifically Provo beach! I think it's a sign of fate that I must get to this lovely sounding beach.
Re: Provo, Turks & Caicos
Yes. Please get there before it becomes too commercial. I didn't see the article but have heard some of the other islands in the chain are under development. Can anyone comment as to new resorts opening up on the other cayes?
Re: Provo, Turks & Caicos
hi claasenam
I think it's written in the stars that you travel to the fabulous Turks and Caicos Islands. The beaches on Prvo are stunningly beautiful with sugar-white sand seemingly stretching endlessly toward the deep blue horizon. And, the crystal clear waters are truly amazing and a sight to behold. Then, there are a number of first-class resorts that cater to every taste and whim. Out-of-this-world. Go!

Re: Provo, Turks & Caicos
Hello Anyone know of resortproperties in South Caicos? We've heard that this is truly unspoiled territory, and not as commercialized as Provo is becoming. Any reccomendations? Also wouldn't it be GREAT to be able to purchase property in Turks and Caicos where there is a one time only tax - at time of purchase and NO capitol gains taxes ??? Always a dreamer ...Funtimes
Re: Provo, Turks & Caicos
hello! we are seriously considering going to turks & caicos for our honeymoon in October. I know the islands are considered below the hurricane belt, but how's the weather? we will be going in early October.
Re: Provo, Turks & Caicos
October is OK. Be aware that hurricane season is usually from June to November. I believe statistically, the strategic point of a hurricane is around September 10th. We travel to Virgin Gorda in September and Anguilla or Central America in November. Only one time did we have rain EVERY DAY in Anguilla! Chances are you will have good weather. Be prepared for the occasional rain. Have you decided where you will stay yet? The nice part of this time of the year is that you shouldn't have a lot of people. You will be able to enjoy the island.
