Hi,
I'm a single woman in my 40s and wanting to travel to Turks and Caicos. Can you recommend a place where a single woman can have fun with other singles but also have a quiet, relaxing time when needed? I don't want to necessarily be somewhere with lots of honeymooners,etc. So, any tips would be appreciated.

Hi kallen45. One idea might be Ocean Club east or west. It is more of a "condo" type property as opposed to a luxurious hotel. It is nice because most room types have a kitchen for your convenience. The property caters to families, singles, and couples. I don't think though it will be a big place to meet singles but it will be a nice place to relax without being in a "honeymoon" environment. The property is on the beach, has tennis courts, restaurants within walking distance, and a wide variety of room type from the studio up to a 3-bedroom unit. T & C has a lot of fun activites for people such as sailing/snorkelling trips to other islands/ This is a great opportunity to meet others. So, all in all, it really isn't a singles place but its a nice vacation getaway that caters to all.

Consider Point Grace. It is one of the smallest resorts on the island, and the surroundings are very private and peaceful. Unlike the large family orientated resorts there are usually few children around. My husband and I lived at Point Grace 4-5 months each year for the past 4 years and recently moved to a larger condo in Turtle Cove (also part of Providenciales) During the time we lived at Point Grace we saw singles who chosethat location in order to avoid noise, kids and honey-mooners! Good luck and have a wonderful vacation. You will love Provo!

Thank you for such a quick response and the information. I currently have Club Med on my list also for T&C but I will be sure tocheck out the Ocean Club. I'm planning to go in July, probably the hottest time of the year but it can't be worse than Phoenix(where I'm from) in July.:)

HI kallen45. The Ocean Club (east?) and Club Med are close by each other. THe club Med looked nice but a little stark in the surroundings and the decor. The good part is that your meals would be included and they have lots of fun activities. (In the past, they had a trapeze set up...looking cool!). The weather in July will be fine. It really isn't a humid destination so you will not have that worry. I think it will be a great get away! Don't forget to read about JoJo. He had been the resident dolphin that is friendly to boats, people, etc. In the past, you will see references to him all over!!
Hi Kallen45, If you're looking for more socializing and less "quiet time", Club Med would probably be a great choice. I went there alone as a single years ago and had a great time. The accomodations are not as plush as the other properties suggested, but that's part of the Club Med style. I found the food to be very good, and it's great not to have to think about sitting alone, etc. If you're not comlpetely set on T&C, a have a single friend who recommends the Body Holiday in St. Lucia. I'm sure you'll have a great time, no matter which property you choose.
My humble opinion...Turks has best beaches/water in the world. I've been there twice and would go back in a heartbeat.
I've stayed at two different five start resorts. First: Point Grace--via luxury link. The rooms were immaculate, service was incredible and next time I go back, I'll stay there.
The Palms--I wasn't a fan at all. I went over spring break in 2007 and the wealthy folks with very spoiled children (who own time shares) literally dominated the entire resort. It was rare to get a chaise lounge at the beach and at the pool--forget it. Not to mention the doors for each room have huge gaps beneath them so any noise that happens in the hallway, you will hear.
To the fella that is considering the Turks for his honeymoon--go to Point Grace--you won't be disappointed.
Yes, the beach is nice in front of the Beaches but if anyone rates that resort high on their list ... I would be highly surprised. It is at best "Days Inn" quality. They are however building a new Italian wing which looks nice. If you want to go to T&C spend a little extra and stay at the Palms or Somerset.
For those looking at Amanyura in Turks & Caicos it is a very nice property with a stunning pool,well-designed rooms & homes available and an absolutelygorgeous beach. Service is top-notch. During whale season you can see them migrating from the beach. It's not the place to take children because they'd be bored to tears after a day or two. The only downside is that it's at least an hour to local restaurants ... so if you're even slightly interested in experiencing the local fare you'll have to travel down some rather bumpy dirt roads to get there. Many would consider its remoteness one of its appeals however.
