06-04-2008, 11:19 AMrecommendations - anniversary trip
my husband and i will be celebrating our 10 yr wedding anniv in the fall and are planning a week-long caribbean trip. we want something upscale (really great service, beautiful rooms, pretty scenery, low key but not dead, no kids), butwe have to stay within some reason on price (this can't be a $10K vaca). we need an island that isn't too complicated to get to or get back from. we've only been to the bahamas (atlantis) which is WAY too big for what we arelooking for on this trip and were recommended to sandals by a travel agent, but they just seem cheesy to me. some of the places on this site look beautiful, however, some seem way too remote for us. suggestions welcome. thanks in advance!

Re: recommendations - anniversary trip
Hi epowers6. I would love to help! We spent our 10 year anniversary on Young Island. (and it is a LL auction!) It is not too difficult to get to. (however, now with all the airlines changing flights everyplace might be hard to get to!). You have a single stand alone stone cottage that is pretty secluded. Food is included but it is not an all-inclusive type place. It is a sit down meal. They have lovely sailing trips whether for the day or for a few nights through the Grenadines. This property is priced very reasonably. If you have a little more to spend, I would consider St. Barths, Anguilla, Peter Island, Biras Creek. These will be a little more expensive. Do be careful when choosing a getaway because it is hurricane season in the fall. What month are you considering?

hi. thanks so much for the recommendations. i'm going to take a look now. we're planning the trip for early november so i "think" we'll be ok as far as hurricanes go, however, we plan on getting trip insurance anyway.

Congrats on 20 years together!
Regarding your question: Capricorne Villas offers spectacular villas that are more private than hotels. If you're willing to wait 'til the last minute, they even offer prices fifty percent off.
Hope this helped you! (:
