I have only one thing to say aboutthis resort: DO NOT GO!
By far, this was the worst trip my husband and I ever took. We, along with another couple got totally sick at the resort. The staff does not speak englishm, which makes ordering even eggs terrible. You can never get what you ask for.
The water on this side of DR is rough and not pretty. DO NOT GO HERE.
We did bid on a package through Lux link, which was at a discount, but by no means was it worth the trip. If it was free, we would not go back.
Additionally, we had to pay $800 for another flight to leave early, due to our sickness. Horrible experience. we did inform Lux Link, but it appears they still offer the package. Bad move on their part.

Re: Sivory Punta Cana
Luxury Link are actually featuring this hotel today as their "Luxury Link recommends" choice today. I actually went in to read about it and it did sound very good. But, I had not readyour post by then. sorry to hear you had such a bad time. I would hate to go on holiday and have such a horrid time. I live for my holidays so would be so upset if I had a badexperience.Has anyone else been to this resort, if so, how did you find it?

Checked out their website, was impressive.
http://www.sivorypuntacana.com/
The Luxury Link auction package was very reasonably priced.

However, the first posts makes me reconsider how "you get what you pay for."
Perhaps things have changed.

We visited Sivory Punta Cana last year through a LL package. At that time they were offering a deluxe Jr. ocean front suite with plunge pool.Beatiful!! We stayed for 7 days and had a wonderful time. Very quiet, nice pool and the beach is superb, sometimeswe were the only ones walking along the ocean. The package includedthe breakfasts and one dinner. They have an all-inclusiveplan (SivoryPlan) for $150pp/day. Since you have the breakfast included the price need to be consideredbecause if you do not drink then you are better off not taking the plan, although I must say some of the prices were high ($8/beer + tax)
Overall the hotel was nice, one major drawback is the long journey from the airport to the hotel, which is more than one hour. The roads are not well kept so you goover major potholes and bumps all along the way. They have the helicopter ride ($144pp/ow) but they do have a weight limit so we could not do it on the return trip because we did not feel comfortable sendingour baggage in a taxi to the airport without anyone supervising the bags. The food was not bad, it was pretty decent and they did honor several requests that we sent to the kitchen. Kevin the chef was very nice and will cater to your needs. Hope this helps.

It has been several months since our trip and I wasnt going to write but I stumbled over the latest review which dredged up all the bad memories. We stayed at Sivory in November 2006 through LL. Everything you read here and on Tripadvisor.com is true so I wont go into detail about the bugs, the ice cold useless plunge pool, floods as a result of taking a shower, bad service, overpriced drinks or very bad food.
What I will go into detail about is my outrage when I received my bill at check out that charged us over $200 USD for a 1-800 call to the USA and all the other over charges and mistakes on my bill. That in itself is not the shocking part. The socking part is for the last 4 days of our trip a woman and her small anterage strolled through the hotel liked they owned the place treating guests and staff with equal distain. When I inquired, I was told that she in fact DID own the place and was there to make a few changes. Ok let me get to the shocking part. She or her husband who own the place are there from Spain (I think) and dont take the time to ask a single guest about their stay? I know this because as a business woman I found it absolutely fascinating or maybe it was because I was stuck in a situation that would otherwise bore me to tears but I watched her intently for 3 days straight and I never once saw her talk to or even crack a small smile at a guest.
If she does own the place, she needs to know that she will not get any repeat business. I only wish I would have taken the opportunity to stop her while I was there and released my frustrations.

I am sorry to hear about your stay
, since we did indeed had quite an enjoyable stay. They were extremely accommodating to all of our request and we never had a flood problem with our bathroom. Wechatted with other guestsover cocktails and dinnersand we all agree that if you are out of the plan the prices are on the high side forfood/drinks, which on their defense, there are a few hotelsin the Dominican Republic with prices like in Sivory, so this is not unusual in the hotel business for this country. We all agreed that it is a nice small hotel that you wouldreturn to. We did hear that the owners are from Spain.

I stayed at the Sivory last Aug. with my husband for 5 nights, on a package through Luxury Link. Overall, we enjoyed our relaxing stay and would consider going back. Hereare thepros and cons of our experience:
Pros:
Rooms were beautiful, clean, plenty of room, a/c, nicely decorated, ocean front.
Overall, the food was good. Breakfast each morning on the verandaanddinner 1 night was included as well as continental breakfast delivered to your room first thing in the morning. This was a really nice touch. Also, beer and soda was included.
Pool and beach areawere beautiful, clean. Sometimes we had the entire pool to ourselves. Pool valet will set you up at the pool or on the beach, which ever you prefer.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Some were extremely nice, (can't recall her name, she worked in the restaurant) and sommelier was also very professional and friendly.
Cons:
If you don't have a meal plan, expect to pay hotel restaurant prices......pricesare a bit on the high side. For breaksfast, Iattempted to get bacon but was told every morning "they were out of it". Lunch we ordered poolside and it was good, but again, pricey.
I experienced a problem with the bugs upon our arrival. It had just finished raining and we went for a walk on the beach. I quickly realized this was a "no no".I got several bites, but nothingthatruined my trip. I don't recall having this happen again the rest of the week, so be aware, if it rains and there is no wind, the little critters will come out. I didn't have to resort to the spray, so it wasn't that big of a problem.
Checking out there was some confusion about the bill in the way they itemized the charges. I seem to recall it had to do with sorting through what was included in the package, vs. what was not.
Hope this helps.
