Spice Island?

Hi all,

The discussion about Laluna peaked my interest in Grenada. Spice Island Resort looks amazing also. Have any of you been there? I'd be interested to hear your opinions about this resort and Grenada in general. Thanks!

I actually looked into Spice Island for my honeymoon and thought it would be great. Grenada had been hit with that terrible hurricane in 2004 and this resort has undergone a multi-million dollar renovation. The results look excellent as well as the reviews I've read about them. The only problem for us was getting there. However, I just read that from the U.S Air Jamaica is now making a lot more flights there so it looks like an option to check into for the future!

Thanks enewseven. I agree, the reviews are very positive. Yes, Air Jamaica is increasing fights, at least partially due to Sandals purchasing a property in Grenada. Another option from the U.S. would be American Airlines, with a stop in Puerto Rico.If it were easier to get to,I would definitely go for it. But still considering....

I don't want to put anybody off Air Jamaica but we flew to Jamaica with them a couple of years ago and I was so unimpressed with them. in fact it is thwe worst airlineI have ever encountered. We were in economy but still did not expect it to be so bad as it was. Our seats were in the rows in the centre and while we were getting comfortable for take-off, I was getting our entertainment sorted out, and when i ent to put in my earphones, the part of the seat which was supposed tohave the earphone socket, was just a large hole. The arm of my seat was taped up with sticky tape and so were a few of the seats around us. We complained to the steward and we were moved to seats at the very back of the plane. After supper, the lights were dimmed incase people wanted to sleep, soI went to put our reading light on and guess what?none of them at the back of the plane worked and the film they were showing must have been about 20 years old but I could not see the screen which was above our seat, unless I had my head held back so far that it would have been really uncomfortable. The toilets were filthy and the pouch in the seat for our magazines etc. was all ripped down one side and anything I keptputting in it just kept falling out. The return flight was a nightmare too. Our flight had been cancelled without any notice to us and we were told we would be on a flight which was leaving 7 hours later and instead of going direct tolondon, it was going via Kingston. As it turned out we missed our connecting flights from london up to Edinburgh and no-one was willing to help us get alternative flights. Considering it was Air Jamaica's fault that we missed our flights,I really thought this was so unprofessional of them just to rush us off. I would never fly again with Air Jamaica, even if they offered them free to me. According to other sites, their time keeping is appauling too.Maybe we were just unlucky and maybe others have been happy with their flights with A.J. butI for one would never give them the chance of maybe trying to change my opinion of them!!! how have others found them?

Hi mary-j,

Thanks for sharing your experience with Air Jamaica. I did fly with them a few years ago to Barbados. I recall the airplane being a bit older than most, but no problems such as you mention. We did have a delay on the return of about 4 extra hours for a stop in Montego Bay.
I will keep your comments in mind for my future plans.
