Re: St Lucia - Getting there ?
There is a good reason why the road out to Anse Chastanet is bad. Apparently the beach at Anse Chastanet is not a private beach, so the road has been kept in such a state to discourage people from using it, so in turn means that the beach is mostly used by the guests alone. At least that was what the owners told my travel agent when he was out on a trip there. Ocourse, Jade mountain is new and luxurious and I doubt very much you will have any problems there. It just looks so amazing!!

Was thinking about your trip last night. A few more ideas: How about Jamaica Inn or Royal Plantation at Ocho Rios in Jamaica. Both are excellent. Also in Anguilla is the Couisinart and Cap Juluca. They are both excellent and a much better beach and water. Also all of these are probably cheaper with All Inclusive plans and easier to get to. Just some thoughts. I'm headed back to Royal Plantation in a few weeks, on a book six days and get two days free all-inclusive plan. IN any case good luck on your honeymoon and more importantly your marriage.

Well Enewseven, have you made a decision on your honeymoon destination yet? Not heard much from you lately. I expect you are busy trying to work out which to choose. Interesting to see which hotel/resort you finally opt for. Cheers.

Wow, after reading all these comments I am now concerned after having won the 7 night pkg for Anse. I have booked our room, planes and an extra night in Miami, all for my big 07=07-07 birthday. Now, I wonder if it is going to be luxuruious. What is the responsibility of luxurylinks if it is not up to the hype?
And, what about bugs? Are there issues with mosquitos? No nets? I am really concerned and not sure what to think right now. This was to be my big birthday, special place on the planet vacation!
Yikes

04-17-2007, 09:53 AMTAKE DRAMAMINE for trip to Anse
Sorry to be so graphic, but I literally threw up in the van on the way from the airport to Anse Chastenet, it was so bumpy. So bring along some Dramamine if you're prone to motion sickness and/or sit in the front of the van. I did both on the way back.
THAT BEING SAID - it has a GORGEOUS reef right off of the beach. I'm terrified of the ocean and I got scuba certified there - I dove 60 feet under to see the most spectacular underwater reef I have ever seen anywhere. The snorkeling is magnificent too.
It's very natural. Prepare yourself for that. It's not as much a luxury beach place as an exotic one. Once you get into that mindset, you will enjoy it. For example, there was a brief shower every day then a rainbow over the Pitons. Lovely. Embrace the surroundings - the natural surroundings. I truly believe it is indeed one of the most special places on the planet.
Now, being in a rain forest does invite a few mosquitos. We had netting but my husband still got bit. But I didn't. So bring DEET just in case. Be prepared. Can you buy a portable mosquito net? :-)
Even though I'm more of a Four Seasons girl generally, I'm extremely glad I had this special week at Anse.

Wow, Dramamine for a car ride. Who would have guessed that one. But, what can a little Bonine (my preferred motion pill) hurt? Thanks for your feedback. I assume the hotel has no netting? Did you stay in an open air room or a lower beach room? Any particular must do's and one more, any sickness from eating the food or drinking with ice cubes?

Re: TAKE DRAMAMINE for trip to Anse
I'm actually looking into a helicopter transfer for the trip from the airport to the resort. It will probably be expensive but my fiancee gets motion sickness when we travel in a car on the highway so it will be worth it to me. I'll post the costs as soon as I find out !

Re: TAKE DRAMAMINE for trip to Anse
I will be there in May, I found out the helicopter is around $125 - $150 per person depending on the airport you fly into. That's not too bad and certainly saves a lot of time !
