We went here last May with another couple and were very disappointed with the resort. It was recommended by some friends that went here on their honeymoon, but our experience was terrible. My husband and I had no hot water for 4 nights. We repeatedly reported the problem and they would send people out to fix it and nothing would work. Finally, it was repaired during our fourth day...this was a SEVERE inconvenience. The place was very lack-luster. All of the plant-life and flowers were over-grown. The grounds, including the pool, restaurants, rooms and bars were very run-down and in need of renovation.
We ate our meals at the plantation, but one night, we took a cab to Ladera. It was beautiful! The high-light of our trip. The views were amazing!
I do not suggest The Jalousie Plantation unless you have someone that has been since MAy 2006 and can promise you that it has been updated!!

My husband and I stayed at the Jalousie for our anniversary for a week at the beginning of December. We had an extremely positive stay. This may be one of the most beautiful views in the world. Our villa (503) was extremely nice and had one of the best views at the resort. The view rivaled our favorite view in Hawaii. The people were as nice as anywhere we have been. the Ladera Resort is a must see for a sunset view and drink and/or dinner. The Plantation room at Jalousie was very good (expensive). I had read negative reviews but we couldn't find anything to complain about, except the food is very expensive and generally just pretty good. Location of your villa is extremely important.
Restuarant at Stonefield Estates is a good alternative -- only 5 minutes away, beautiful view, good food and not too expensive.
